House Votes to Extend Unemployment Benefits
Edited on Fri Feb-26-10 12:07 AM by tonysam
This despite the fact my idiot congressman, Dean Heller, referred to us getting EUI as hobos, i.e., "bums."

The House has voted to extend -- for a month -- a series of programs set to expire Sunday, including unemployment benefits and subsidies to help pay health premiums through the COBRA program.

The bill passed the House on a voice vote Thursday evening and was sent to the Senate.

Let's hope the Senate doesn't screw things up and gets this thing passed ASAP.

1. Spoke too soon.
The dumb fuckers in the Senate continue with delaying tactics:

The benefits are part of a larger package of government programs, from highway funding to loans for small businesses, set to expire Sunday because senators couldn't agree on how to pay for an extension.

The House passed a bill Thursday extending the programs for a month while lawmakers consider how to address the issues long-term. Senate Democrats repeatedly tried to follow suit Thursday night but they couldn't overcome the objections of a single lawmaker, Republican Sen. Jim Bunning of Kentucky, that the $10 billion bill would add to the budget deficit.

This worthless, fucking son of a bitch holds up help needed for MILLIONS of people because he can.

I don't believe the whole fucking thing.

12. The idiot repubs want a permanent repeal to the estate tax attatched to the bill.
Reid put this issue off until his back was to the wall and now many who should be moving onto a new emergency tier will suffer badly.

3. I hope the people receiving this recognize that if the GOP were in
charge, they would have stopped extending Benefits by now.
