I haven't been keeping a close eye on the polls (which are usually pretty questionable anyway) but I was just curious if there's been any kind of perceptible shift in our prospects for us being able to hold onto Congress after the midterms or if we still seem to be inevitably heading (more or less) towards an 1994-like electoral outcome? I have to admit that things looked REALLY bleak for us after Coakley lost to Brown in Massachusetts (even though I think the significance of his win was somewhat overblown nonetheless) but since then- starting with Obama's SOTU- I've noticed the emergence of a slightly more disciplined, energized and aggressive Democratic Party. Additionally, Obama has publicly nuked the Republicans twice now. And then of course, we've recently had CPAC peeling the mask off the real lunatic "base" of the party.
Are things getting better for us or have we managed to "staunch" the *bleeding* somewhat recently? I know that there are definitely some things that the Democrats need to do (i.e. get HCR passed) to help maintain our hold on Congress but should we have reason to hope for a more positive outcome than the one being incessantly peddled by the corporate media whores? I try to imagine people electing Republicans in numbers large enough to make John Boehner, Mike Pence, Eric Cantor, Mitch McConnell, et. al the *leaders* in Congress next year and I just can't. The corporate media whores WANT us to feel like it's going to be a 1994 redux (and I could be wrong) but I just don't feel it, particularly since, according to every poll that I've seen, the GOP is not seen as being better than Democrats on pretty much any issue not to mention the fact that their poll numbers are nothing like they were in 1994 and AFAIK haven't rebounded since 2006
Thoughts? Opinions?
