1. 34 aftershocks
all >5.0 and covering a 400 mile stretch of the most densely populated area.

It doesn't look as bad as Haiti, Chile is a wealthier country and they are able to build more solid structures, but it's bad.

2. I just noted two on my seis monitor. I'm monitoring Chile
and Japan.

The second one I saw is a long one.

11. I have no idea. I am running it on OSX. It's aimed at students
so it should be compatible with a wide range of OS's

3. The Meterologist on CNN was showing an aerial shot of Chile where the quake
occurred. It pretty sparsely populated, especially compared to Haiti. It almost looked like an aerial of Ireland -- a long, winding road, a house here and there along the road, and all were a way back from the coastline. So no buildings piled on top of each other, and relatively few people (again, compared to Haiti).

6. Aftershocks are dangerous because they can bring down
already weakened structures.

9. Watching TV stream from Honolulu...expecting a 6ft wave surge. Hilo
is in greatest danger. Will not be a crashing wave but more like a overflowing river.
