KANSAS CITY, Mo., April 29 (UPI) —

http://www.thekansascitychannel.com/news/13219012/detail.html

A gunman opened fire first outside and then inside a Kansas City, Mo.,
mall in a Sunday shooting spree that left at least two people dead and two wounded.

CNN reported two people were killed but that there were conflicting reports whether
the gunman was one of those who died. The shootings started in a parking lot at the
Ward Parkway Shopping Center about nine miles south of downtown Kansas City and then
continued inside a Target store, CNN said.

Witness Queea Miller said she saw the armed man shooting just two vehicles away from
where she sat in her vehicle. When I saw him he was just walking and shooting, she said.
He didn't seem to be harmed at all.

But she said she lost sight of him when he went inside the mall and that she ran inside
another store seeking safety when she saw police officers rush in his direction.

She told CNN other people in the parking lot were screaming and running for safety, as well.

15. AK-47's are still restricted (10-year felony for possession)...
Edited on Sun Apr-29-07 07:55 PM by benEzra
civvie AK lookalikes were never restricted (1994-2004, they were prohibited from having bayonet lugs or muzzle threads). I know, I own one (2002 model).

It's not clear at this point what make/model of gun was used (some stories say AK, some sawed-off shotgun, some simply "long gun").

(just adding-interesting. KCPD and Leawood responded. That's multistate-big deal stuff.)

3 confirmed fatalities, including the gunman.

6. Thanks.
KMBC-TV reported that there are multiple victims and that there is a continuing search
for possibly more victims inside the center. The Target store is on the north end of
the Ward Parkway Shopping Center, and there was crime scene tape shown.
First reports said at least three people were wounded, Larry Moore reported.

A fire official said two people were killed.

7. The officer on the tape said that three were killed,
including the gunman and that he suspects that there might be multiple at area hospitals, not just from the gunman but from the sheer chaos of evacuating the mall.

Scary stuff. I used to know Ward Parkway pretty well. (Not as well as Independence Center but...)

Hot day like this-I wouldn't be surprised to see many senior citizens there. You see them often in the malls on hot days to gather and to keep cool.

11. 87 degrees in Kansas City right now.
At 6 at night it's that hot.

Just sad. I bet it was anarchy in that mall.

(And an officer is who killed the shooter.)

9. Yup.
I was predicting this sort of thing a good while back. Sadly inevitable in these times.
