Christian Hate Group ‘Repent Amarillo’ Terrorizes Texas Town, Harassing Gays, Liberals, And
Other ‘Sinners’

http://thinkprogress.org/2010/03/04/texas-taliban/

An evangelical Christian hate group called “Repent Amarillo” is reportedly terrorizing the town of Amarillo, Texas. Repent fashions itself as a sort of militia and targets a wide range of community members they deem offensive to their theology: gays, liberal Christians, Muslims, environmentalists, breast cancer events that do not highlight abortion, Halloween, “spring break events,” and pornography shops. On its website, Repent has posted a “Warfare Map” of its enemies in town.

Calling Repent an “American Taliban,” blogger Charles Johnson notes that the group’s moniker “Army of God” is a rough translation of “Hezbollah.” Led by a man named David Grisham, a security guard at a nuclear-bomb facility called Pantex, Repent first gained media attention in Texas following a campaign to boycott Houston for electing a gay mayor. The group, which is associated with Raven Ministries, collaborates with other Christian groups as well as forced pregnancy advocacy associations like “Bound 4 Life.”

cause that is the worst that can happen to them! I know a young man that was murdered by these animals...he was a theater major and enjoyed the outlandish. They ran over his head with a car a few times laughing all the while.

6. What level of harrassment constitutes a crime?
Edited on Sat Mar-06-10 09:59 AM by Jim__
According to the story they go through people's trash (I thought that was illegal) and stalk people which definitely should be illegal. The people being harrassed should definitely report every incident to the police and do their best to get these criminals arrested. If this is going to be a tactic of the religious right (e.g. Phelps) people have to prepare for this and we should come up with a plan to react to it.

18. The local police appear to support it.
In the article, only the state trooper thought they were a terrorist type group. The locals just let them go and leave.

19. I checked out Repent Amarillo's website
and I am considering taking a shower. On opening it there is some martial music that plays while the page loads and I swear it ends with the sound of a gunshot. There are a bunch of small photos of soldiers and military equipment and quotes from the Bible that RA is using to justify their activities. There is also a statement that says they are the Special Forces of God and are looking for a few good warriors as well as one that states the website is for Christians only. It goes on to say if you are not a Christian but are interested in becoming one to try some other sites and it gives a link. I declined to click it. There are also links to a number of like-minded groups, as well as Hal Lindsey's website. Yuck.

39. This is why religion cause's more evil than good
I know there are plenty of people out there who are intelligent enough to belong to a church and not let their views ty-raid over everybody else's, but there are so many righteous idiots who use religion to justify hate. And in my opinion, just one is too many. This is the modern science age. We don't need an ancient book to guide us on our path of morality anymore. It's just too flawed. It may help some people a little, but to me, it seems like a pill used to treat a headache but the side effects include diabetes, leprosy and the plague.
