The extent of the right wing corporate media's influence is so great and has persisted for so long
that we sometimes fail to acknowledge it. Even we liberals sometimes take it for granted as "just the way things are".

There is no shortage of knee-jerk teabagger types here in deep red southern Illinois who love to spew simple-minded nonsense about the "liberal media". Yet, when I am on the road during the day, I can scan the radio through all available frequencies without finding anything that isn't either fundamentalist "Christian" stupidity or extreme right-wing hatemongering. Today, I found Rush's
spew on six AM radio stations.

I have challenged wingnuts to name one liberal media personality for every five conservative talkers I can name. No one has yet been able to do that, but the same person who runs out of names after Keith Olberman, Rachel Maddow and Ed Schultz will still insist that the "liberal media" exists because "the networks are all run by liberals."

By the time I get home some days, it seems like I've been holding my breath for hours, trying not to breathe in the stench of stupid.

1. Atticus, I join you in fighting this constant lie all day and every day
The sad thing is the Repugs don't even know they are actively being brainwashed. They simply don't get it...

3. AM radio here is useless, almost all RW talk and religion. Now, I find the same creeping into
FM. Even shortwave radio is similar, taken over by religion. Bad enough is also the TV. It's hard to escape it... some I know have no other views than RW, because they think that's just the way it is. Pitiful.
