Liz Cheney's former teacher criticizes her attacks against DOJ lawyers
Edited on Wed Mar-10-10 12:18 AM by angelicwoman
Found in a paragraph of a new New York Times story on this topic:

"“There’s something truly bizarre about this,” said Richard A. Epstein, a University of Chicago law professor and a revered figure among many members of the society. “Liz Cheney is a former student of mine — I don’t know what moves her on this thing,” he said."

She was raised by bottom feeders.

2. NYT title: "Attacks on Detainee Lawyers Split Conservatives"
The only split that I see is the one between GOP crazies who may face indictments in the near future and plain old GOP crazies.

4. How can anybody say what she did and have a J.D.?
She does not get the concept of "innocent until proven guilty" and one of the ABA canons of ethics: "A lawyer should represent his client zealously within the bounds of the law".

She sure as hell didn't go to MY law school.

5. No! Please don't tell me that Liz Cheney is a lawyer.
How could she get through law school and not understand that lawyers sometimes defend criminals. That's amazing to me. Has she never heard of Perry Mason? or Johnny Cochran? Just to name a couple of real/mythical criminal defense attorneys.

And then, let's don't go into the civil defense attorneys who defend major corporate defendants -- for the money and because everyone, even the rich and famous, are entitled to a defense -- everyone, Ms. Cheney, everyone. That goes for you and your father too. If you ever have to face a jury, you are going to want an lawyer at your side.

And remember that drunk driving charge that Bush had way back when? What do you want to bet some criminal defense attorney helped him handle that one? And didn't Cheney Sr. have a couple of DUIs somewhere in his past? Did a criminal defense lawyer help him with those?

And then there is that "accidental" shooting up of a hunting companion in Texas just a few years ago. As I recall, Cheney Sr. was never charged, but maybe he should have been, and if he had been wouldn't he have wanted a criminal defense attorney with him in court? I assure you he would have needed one and badly.

Please don't tell me that Liz Cheney is a lawyer.
