Ga. politician (R) & mule-fucker jailed for making terroristic threats against Elton John
Edited on Thu Mar-11-10 06:13 PM by Bluebear
ooooh papa toony, we got a loony!

An anti-abortion activist and gubernatorial candidate from Carrollton who was arrested for allegedly making threats against Elton John is still being held in the Fulton County jail.

Neal Horsley was taken into custody Wednesday in Carrollton by members of the Atlanta police fugitive squad and U.S. Marshal's office, according to Carrollton police.

Horsley was booked into the Fulton County Jail, charged with terroristic threats, criminal defamation and using the Internet to disseminate threats. During a hearing Thursday morning at the jail, Magistrate Judge James Altman set bond for Horsley at $40,000 on all three charges.

As a condition of his bail, Horsley must remain at the home of his son, Nathanael Horsley of Gainesville, Altman said. In addition, there must be a land-line in the home...

...You may remember Neal Horsley when he famously admitted his love of farm animals with Alan Colmes a few years ago.

"Is it true?" Colmes asked.

"Hey, Alan, if you want to accuse me of having sex when I was a fool, I did everything that crossed my mind that looked like I..."

AC: "You had sex with animals?"

NH: "Absolutely. I was a fool. When you grow up on a farm in Georgia, your first girlfriend is a mule."

AC: "I'm not so sure that that is so."

1. His first girlfriend was a mule -- but not a donkey.
Now it's an elephant. ;-)

4. What are you shrugging about? Saying he must die isn't terroristic?

7. I think it's hyperbole.
One threat against one individual is a horrific thing, but I don't believe it rises to the level of terrorism, no.

10. You need to read up on terroristic threats, especially in domestic violence situation
A threat meant to terrorize somebody can be as simple as one person threatening violence to another.

12. If you have a source, I would be happy to look at it.
Perhaps it should be called a hate crime. But Terrorism? Surely not.

A terroristic threat is a crime generally involving a threat to commit violence communicated with the intent to terrorize another, to cause evacuation of a building, or to cause serious public inconvenience, in reckless disregard of the risk of causing such terror or inconvenience. It may mean an offense against property or involving danger to another person that may include but is not limited to recklessly endangering another person, harassment, stalking, ethnic intimidation, and criminal mischief.

16. You are reading WAY too much into my shrug, Bluebear.
Like I wrote to the Magistrate, I simply thought that "terroristic" referred to "Terrorism". I'm sorry if you think that my asking for clarification is an act of semantics. It is not.

18. Edited as you were replying, good Reverend :)
It's all good.

In any case, the more serious chargr of terrorism is increasingly being used to strengthen charges against egregious stalkers, violent exes, etc.

14. Do you have a definition?
I'm not in any way a lawyer. But when I read "terroristic", I think it refers to "Terrorism". Is it something else?

23. It Varies State To State, Reverend

Basically, it is a threat intended to frighten someone into doing something, as opposed to a mere declaration of intent to harm. If, say, in a traffic altercation, someone yells, "I'll kill you!", they have committed assault in most jurisdictions by making the threat, but that is all. A statement like, "If I ever see you see you on this road again, I'm going to kill you!" would be a threat that intended to frighten someone into changing their behavior, ie., avoiding that road in future. It would doubtless not be prosecuted as a terroristic threat in practice, mind, but could be if someone did not have enough serious work to do.

In this instance, it sounds like the threat was aimed at convincing Mr. John to abandon a property, and so certainly qualifies on its face.

His home base in in England, but he also has a couple of homes in the US. I believe I heard that in an interview a couple of years back.

24. Of all the people he could have gone to jail for threatening, he chose Elton John.
What a strange hill he chose to die upon.

Seriously.
