Best Wishes to Sen. Reid's wife and daughter thread
http://content.usatoday.com/communities/onpolitics/post/2010/03/sen-reids-wife-daughter-injured-in-car-crash/1

Mrs. Reid has a broken nose, broken back and broken neck. Lana has a neck injury and facial lacerations. Both Mrs. Reid and Lana are
conscious, can feel their extremities, and according to doctors their injuries are non-life threatening. Senator Reid has been to the
hospital and appreciates the support he and his family are receiving from Nevadans and his colleagues in the Senate.

of a recovery period, but hopefully fully.

4. Whew! Thank you for the update, I've been checking as nothing I found
even mentioned their daughter (and only the WaPo mentioned Mrs. Reid's broken neck).

As horrible and terrifying as this is, I'm relieved they are "conscious and can feel their extremities". Thank God.

I wish them the speediest of recoveries.

And poor Harry -- it's so difficult for us to watch those we love suffer. :(

Thanks for the update and for the thoughtful thread. :pals:

52. Reid
Harry Reid is one of my Senators ( Ensign being the other ). He has his faults but he is far superior to the competition.

I wonder how soon ( maybe today? ) that Limbaugh, Hannity, Levin, Beck and the other right wing trash begin hinting that Reid staged this crash to help his re-election campaign?

60. ARE YOU SERIOUS ???!!!!
Your only two comments are basically....1) Reid is bad, but better than right wing trash and 2) I wonder how right-wingers will respond to this.

I am sorry to hear about his family, will remember him and them in my prayers, and am relieved that, although they are injured, signs for recovery might be good. My agreement or disagreement with Reid's policies and how others might respond to this politically are VERY inappropriate today. There will always be time for the other.........it is a shame that you don't have the grace or class to find something else to say. Maybe you can re-post this tomorrow. Yikes!!

I didn't say Reid was bad. He's my Senator and I support MOST of what he does. I am not blindly loyal.

Meanwhile DU is running ads for Reid's opponent. You said what about class?

Although any time is a horrible time for an accident of any kind, Reid didn't need the added stress. I hope they are able to get relief and come home as soon as possible.

Strong thoughts going their way for a good outcome.

37. Especially for those of us not fortunate enough to have govt healthcare.
I was insured under the same circumstances, and am being driven to bankruptcy... with many injuries still untreated. I don't feel sorry for those with healthcare who seek to deny or are not vigorous about getting everybody the care they deserve.

Sounds like the daughter will be fine eventually, but his wife faces a long climb back. My Mom was in a traffic accident at the same age (69), and she never fully recovered. I don't believe her injuries were this severe, either. She died at 83, and her mobility and strength never recovered fully after a less serious accident. Good luck, Reid family.
