In the last 2 years, I have become insane
Just trying to keep my job as a non college grad in a competitive managerial position has literally caused me to be an insane asshole. I have lost friends here at DU and and other associates. I am so glad to live here in what is still Bush's Amurika.

I think I am now seeing a light....finally.

1. Just two years?
Are you sure there weren't some underlying issues at work?

7. Refusal to accept responsibility
Symptom 1 of an asshole.

Unnecessary use of abbreviations.

Symptom 2.

9. I already admitted I'm an asshole. lol.
Its not just a mangerial position. Its a technical position, its in manufacturing. I've been doing it for 20+ years I know my shit. I learned and write software applications for the company in addition to the regular job. I have been working on a super duper auto certification program and its taking much longer than they like. They bring in an ex auto industry guy who has some of the same capabilities as me 2 years ago. Since then I have been threatened with losing my job at least once a month.

hows that?

11. there's....
....absolutely nothing wrong with unemployment, if you can afford it....I say, 20 years is long enough to be working at any stinkin' job....I wouldn't want to be doing something I loved, for 20 years....

....give up, take a break and smell the roses....it's later than you think....

12. I have spent the last 3 or 4 days
discussing my future with the owner, I was prepared to be unemployed. I think your advice is not too far off track.

10. As we all know
Sanity is merely a norm and somewhat of a psychological contrivance when you are not talking extremes.

Many of us going a bit daffy what with the sour road the machine has decided to take our collective behinds. Not to mention the rate of change, in many flavors, accelerating.

Go with it if you can and take heart that what you might mistake as losing your sanity is more like that annoying, even painful reshuffling of one's culturally-induced, mental constructs. Let them go, as required. There may be benefits not yet realized.

I consider myself unsane and that suits me fine. Every time I think I've lost my mind, a whimsical, Zennish voice reminds me that I haven't even found it yet. So, darn, so much for that.

Find out what works for you and work with it ... but be prepared for questions, discomfort, letting go of some cherished notions that will then simply drop and rot in your mind fields, providing some powerful, (and rather awful smelling) fertilizer for potentially refreshing harvests to come.

14. I doubt you'd be better off if you had a college degree.
A bachelors degree and $2 gets you a cup of coffee.

15. A 4 year degree
gives one more options I believe. I survive purely off of performance and associations, and remember, I am an asshole.

16. I thought I was going insane once
Then I realized I never was sane to begin with.

I know what you mean.I was in a job several years ago where I had to be a major asshole in order for anything to get done.
It almost killed me. Literally.
It took three months to decompress after I quit.
Never again will I put myself in such an enviroment. Not worth it.
