Bart Stupak: Democratic Leaders Are 'Ignoring Me'
After playing a central role in the bid to ensure that federal funding for abortion is removed from the Democrats' health care bill, Rep. Bart Stupak (D-Mich.) said in an interview on Friday that he is suddenly feeling left out.

"They're ignoring me," he told National Review Online in an interview "That's their strategy now. The House Democratic leaders think they have the votes to pass the Senate's health-care bill without us. At this point, there is no doubt that they've been able to peel off one or two of my twelve. And even if they don't have the votes, it's been made clear to us that they won't insert our language on the abortion issue."

Oh, boo-fucking-hoo. Stupak: "All I did was try to insert the most draconian restrictions to reproductive choice we've seen since the 70's into this bill and hold everyone hostage over it. Now that they don't need my vote, nobody likes me."

"Stupak said that he's already gotten a call from Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee Chairman Chris Van Hollen (Md.) urging him to run for re-election."

7. I'm speechless
And the President endorses Lincoln who's running ads bragging about blocking his agenda against a progressive candidate. I don't know how much more I can take.

14. Feeling lonely is he?
I suggest that he go stand under a bug light. He'll find plenty of company there. He also has someone running against him in the primary now. He has her attention. If he thinks he is lonely now, wait until after she runs against him. He is a butt head.

20. Her name is ...
Connie Saltonstall. Here is the link to Huffpo from March 10 when it was announced.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/03/10/connie-saltonstall-challe_n_493443.html

And yes, we should support her. She is a former teacher and a former Charlevox (sp) County Commissioner who has spoken out against Stupak's anti abortion views in the past. She says he is entitled to have his personal religious views, but not to force them on the rest of the country. That is not an exact quote, but the exact quote is at the link. She has made me a very happy woman.;)

I was so pleased when I read about her. Maybe he will sit down and shut up now, at least until the full weight of actually running is past.

23. As you wish

CHARLEVOIX, MI – Democrats in Michigan’s First Congressional District will now have a choice in the August Primary. Connie Saltonstall has announced she will challenge Bart Stupak for the Democratic Nomination for United States Representative. This week supporters of Saltonstall launched a petition drive to collect the 1,000 signatures required to place her name on the August primary ballot.

Saltonstall believes that voters in Michigan’s First District will support a candidate who will work for them on the important issues of job creation, healthcare, education, infrastructure maintenance and improvements, and protecting the environment of our precious Great Lakes. “Michigan and the First District are facing enormous challenges and we cannot afford to sacrifice solutions for individual agendas. Stupak is co-chair of the Pro-Life Caucus and is putting their interests above those of his district. No federal funds have been used for abortions since 1977, and that provision will stay in effect without his amendment. In my opinion, Bart Stupak has shown that he is willing to block important legislation to support his own agenda at the expense of those he was elected to represent.”

and in another quote I love

Bart Stupak "has a right to his personal, religious views, but to deprive his constituents of needed health care reform because of those views is reprehensible."
