Most Americans want health care reform

It is ironic that Democratic pollsters Patrick H. Caddell and Douglas E. Schoen felt "compelled" to "challenge the myths" about public attitudes on health care by simply restating one of the most commonly stated -- and patently wrong -- Republican myths .

No pollster, including me, could look at the recent data and responsibly say anything other than that the American public is closely divided when it comes to supporting or opposing various health-care plans. The most recent Washington Post poll (from Feb. 10) shows a narrow gap between support and opposition: 46 percent favor; 49 percent oppose. This data is consistent with eight of the 12 most recent independent public polls reported on Pollster.com.

The reason there are so many who "oppose" the current plan is they want MORE in the bill, not less like the idiots on the right say! They want to see the people get the better deal for a change and not the damn insurance companies. They want real changes in our health care, not a watered down bill that has been designed to get republicans to vote for it, but in reality no matter what you put in the bill, they will NEVER vote for it!

Now I am one who wants more, but I am also one that wants something that we can at least start building on. I am know that real UHC is not going to happen in a blink of an eye. It would be great if it did, but it won't. We are going to have to build on what we can get in order to end up some day with real UHC. The problem is that if democrats don't pass a bill and put a PO in that bill they are going to have a hard time keeping control of the senate, even though they don't know what do with the majority when they have it! If the republicans gain control nothing is going to happen, so this is the best chance we have to get something passed and help democrats come election time.

If they fail, they lose, and if they lose I am afraid so does the president and the country because the left won't come out to support those who won't work to help them get the things this country really needs. Many democrats will do as many republicans did in 2008 and just stay home on election day. Republicans will rally their base with fear and smear and they will be back in charge come 2012, and then we will all be head down the road to the "new world order" where there are two classes, the rich, and the rest of us who will be slaves to those with the most money!

not something that mandates they buy insurance from the crooks that caused the mess to begin with. Especially when that insurance can come with out of pocket expenses that are so high they will still be unable to see a doctor or will still face bankruptcy if they have a chronic condition or get sick.

It is sadly incremental but is being billed as some miracle cure all. I've heard the promises and if it passes there will only be disappointment and disillusion. False advertising at it's worst.

They want the best medical care they can get for themselves and their families. And they want it for free.

And they don't want anyone whom they consider beneath them to have even the most basic health care.

I think some folks who call themselves Democrats feel the same way.
