Dems: We will have the votes for heath reform

The House will pass health care reform soon. DCCC Chairman Chris Van Hollen told Fox News' Chris Wallace Sunday that Democrats will have the votes to pass the Senate bill.

"The votes will be there," he said. "What is happening is our members are going back home to their constituents who are opening up their mail and getting these huge increases in their insurance premiums," he explained.

"The momentum has been clearly building. When the vote comes, I'm confident there will be a majority," said Van Hollen.

The president's senior advisor told ABC the same thing Sunday morning. On "This Week" David Axelrod said he believes "that we'll be there at the end of the day. I believe it is going to happen this week."

1. If Van Hollen is right, and Van Hollen is no fool, the ferocity of the
Republicans' resistance to this legislation in all its forms becomes an interesting focus for the 2010 Congressional elections, and could be turned to the favor of Democrats with a vigorous and hard-hitting ads.

I say we hammer 'em.

3. Hooray! The Public Option is Imminant!
After all, back before the Republicans gained 41 Senate seats we were told - how many times? - that there were 59 votes in the Senate for single payer, it was only being held up by that great patriot Lieberman?

Now that we only need 50 votes, it's in the bag! This is a great day!
