I-95 wreck kills Exeter teen, injures two others

SEABROOK – A crash at the Exit 1 offramp of I-95 yesterday evening claimed the life of an Exeter boy.

According to state police, Brandon Petit, 18, of Raymond, was attempting to exit the highway from the southbound lane of I-95. In so doing, police say he cut in front of a tractor trailer driven by Neil Swain, 43, of Canaan, Maine.

Petit lost control of the Toyota he was driving when it was struck by the truck. The Toyota crossed a median and flipped.

According to police, a 15-year-old Exeter teen was pronounced dead at the scene by a state medical examiner. A female juvenile, 13, also of Exeter, was flown to Mass. General with serious injuries. Petit was take to Anna Jacques Hospital in Newburyport, Mass., for non-life threatening injuries. Swain was uninjured.

The crash is under investigation by Trooper Tara Elsemiller of State Police Troop A. Anyone who witnessed the accident can contact her at 223-8490.

Interstate 95 (I-95) is the main highway on the East Coast of the United States,<1> paralleling the Atlantic Ocean from Maine to Florida and serving some of the most populated urban areas in the country, including Boston, New York City, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington, D.C., and Miami. The highway continues northeast through Wilmington, Delaware and Philadelphia, after which traffic must use other roads to continue towards Newark, New Jersey until the completion of the Pennsylvania Turnpike/Interstate 95 Interchange Project (planned for 2014). I-95 crosses the George Washington Bridge into New York City, and then passes through New Haven, Connecticut and Providence, Rhode Island, around Boston, Massachusetts, and through Portsmouth, New Hampshire and Augusta, Maine on its way to the Houlton/Woodstock Border Crossing to the short New Brunswick Route 95, which connects to the Trans-Canada Highway.

Firefighters' fast response saves man trapped after trench collapses

MILFORD — City firefighters and employees at K&W Construction rescued a
47-year-old man who was trapped when a trench collapsed
on him while working on the state’s Interstate 95 Moses Wheeler Bridge
replacement project Tuesday morning.

NECN: Mystic, CT) - Connecticut State Police are confirming to NECN that on Saturday morning around 8 AM a tractor trailer went off the road and burst into flames in Mystic.

The fatal tractor trailer accident happened on Interstate 95 north bound near Exit 91.

One person has died from the accident. The road is currently closed in both directions so they can clean up the scene and to make sure the roadway has not sustained any damage.

Fire crews are currently on scene.

The accident is still under investigation.

They do not know what kind of load was on the truck or where the truck was coming from.
