Poll question: What type of computer are you presently using?
(This question was mysteriously left off the DU Census earlier today...)

20. Same here, I bounce between a laptop and desktop
depending on what I'm doing. The laptop is Win7, the desktop is XP. Once in a while, I hook them together to swap bookmarks and the few compatible files.

12. HP Pavilion laptop.
I've had it for about a month and a half. It's a replacement for my 5-year-old HP laptop that finally conked out in January (the computer itself still works, but the AC jack died and it was easier to buy a new laptop than fool with getting the old one fixed).

21. This box has been Linux for over three years, and I don't plan to change any time soon.
Linux Ubuntu Ultimate Edition 64bit is SWEET!!

I've also got Sun VirtualBox running Windows XP on my second monitor for "other stuff" because Wine doesn't work all the time.

23. I'm thinking very seriously about resurrecting a comatose
PC into a Linux box, just to play with it.

It's comatose because the HD fried as in smoke curling up and I've been unable to load many of the drivers from the recovery disc I made when it was new.

It'll work as a basic "learn Linux, fool!" box, though.

24. I've spent the last year upgrading. I have a desktop I built myself and a Toshiba laptop.
I absolutely love Windows 7 - way better than Mac OS (and this is coming from a longtime Apple user). I'll never buy another desktop again unless I can build it myself.

26. IBM thinkpad laptop running Gentoo Linux, with a Windows dual-boot for
certain devices that won't play nicely (like my pic-feed scanner). Not set up by me, though. I am a competent user, but admin and programming stuff is beyond me.

...most of the time. Linux Mint KDE CE to be more precise.

It also runs Windows, BSD, and another flavor of Linux when I want it to. Then there's the VirtualBox machines.

Essential stats:

BIOSTAR TA790GXE
4GB A-Data Memory
GeForce 220 GT Graphics
