The irony is that it could have been "mission accomplished"
had Rumsfeld really stopped activities by US troops and had let UN forces, preferably from neighboring Arab countries, to control peace while Iraq was using its own sources, including civil servants, to rebuild itself.

But, nooo.... Rumsfeld and Cheney decided to send incompetent Paul Brenner to gather a group of incompetent aids - who loved Jesus and voted for Bush - to try controlling the country.

Yes, the civil servants were Baatists; they had no choice. But they were familiar with the infra structure.

1. Okay, explain to me what the 'Mission' was. And was it
necessary? Or moral?

5. In hindsight, of course, to free the Iraqi people from
the oppression of Hussein and his sadistic sons.

Yes, I know, there are many nations with similarly ruthless dictators - Zimbabwe comes to mind, the Sudan. But we did intervene in Kosovo, we did fight the Nazis, we liberated Kuwait, and, I hope, we will always be the last ray of hope for oppressed people everywhere.

Put it differently, since this is a political forum among other things: I think that most Americans would have still supported the war had we stopped early with minimum amount of casualty. I think that the reason the war has lost its popularity is because we are losing it. Every one likes to be on the side of victory. Remember the first Gulf War? I would imagine that most DUers would have opposed it then, but most consider it a shiny moment..

6. Free them from suppression? Try again.
Free them from their oil is more like it?

Where did you ever get the crazy notion that this bunch ever intended to leave that country to themselves once they were freed from the Husseins's? Where did you ever get the idea that any of this lying shit was on the up-and-up?

Do you think it's humane to drop bombs on innocent people for a lie? Do you feel that any of this was an act of humanity? Are you nuts?

2. The Mission Accomplished Banner and landing on the US aircraft carrier
....was an RNC advertising publicity stunt. It was devised to buy support for continued war. So were Saddam's later capture, trial and public televised hanging.

The neocon controlled White House and GOP never intended to end any war but to keep perpetual wars going for as long as they believe it will take to accomplish their ultimate goal, world domination, slavery and population reduction. These people are insane!
