Both political parties are corporations
The Democrats and Republicans offer products-Representatives, Senators, Presidents, Governors, state legislators-and each product is particularly tailored to a specific constituency.

At the end of the day, what it comes down to is that these two corporations are competing for market share. People are disposable. We are nothing but consumers to them.

The Republican corporation, after having gone through a sort of Chapter 11 bankruptcy in the past few years, is ready to capitalize on the follies of the poorly-managed Democratic corporation. That's why they are opposing a Democratic bill, because they can never work with the Democratic corporation. It wouldn't help them increase their market share.

All of this is in the foreground, but in the background are the shareholders of the Democratic and Republican corporations. And there is a LOT of overlap between the shareholders.

The health insurance companies, Wall Street, private investors in education-these are the shareholders of the companies. If they don't like what one company is doing, they will go to the other company.

If the Democratic corporation looks bad in the eyes of the public, they will move to the Republican corporation, and vice versa.

1. The Democratic corporation is about to give health coverage to 30 million people who didn't have it.
I'm a proud stockholder in that one.

6. "give"?
Now there will be subsidies, but even thereafter, I wouldn't consider the process a "gift", nor one I wouldn't look in the mouth.

You might as well have kicked him in the 'nads, Skinner.

Some people just can't let go of the "Bitter". It comforts them.

4. No they aren't. There are no shareholders. Doesn't make sense
They may act on behalf of private industry (rather than facilitate the struggle between laborers and the owners), but they aren't literally a corporation.

Some of what you said has some truth, but thats a bad start. :)

8. Well, they act like corporations
And they make lots and lots of campaign donations to candidates and parties, in return for industry-friendly government.

more true IMO. That's why today I often feel like I live in USA, Inc.

10. Then Why Post On DEMOCRATIC Underground?
This is what I don't understand. People posting on Democratic Underground who just bash on Democrats. This is a partisan website with "Democratic" in the name. Of course, some folks will reply that the Democratic party has strayed from its "true" ideals. Really?

If so, couldn't the same argument be made of Republicans? Couldn't you say that you are a "true" Republican, but that the Republican party has abandoned you and left its roots as the party of Lincoln?

If you are too pure for either party, why bother posting on either party's site? The tea party and coffee party are accepting members.
