It's no secret here that I don't like Dennis Kucinich... I think he's a grandstander who's more interested in portraying himself as politically pure than in getting things done.

But he came around on the HCR bill, so he has earned my support.

I'm pro-choice and consider people like Stupak to be disingenuous assholes who have no right to legislate what women can or cannot do with their reproductive systems....

But he came around on the HCR bill, so if we abandon him in 2010 we'll never get support from the middle again on any other issue.

2. I agree! Both men came around and when it mattered. . .they were there!
Especially Stupak who was instrumental in avoiding that stupid last attempt by the Reps to stop reconciliation!

I thought Stupak's speech was very good. . . he seemed sincere and he told the Reps that they were hypocrites!

Now, do we know yet who called him a "baby killer?" He didn't deserve that!

They stood in the way of real reform, dont go all soft on the blue dogs and DLC'ers just because they got what they wanted passed.

Can't you find even one good reason to not be miserable about it?

Sheesh.

8. This win wouldnt have taken a year without those same clowns you want to reward
And it would have ended up a far better bill too.

10. Maybe.
Why be miserable about what ifs when we just got the most significant legislation passed in the last 40 years? This is absolutely huge and paves the way toward bigger and better things.

15. Im not, but why bandwagon for conservative Dems?
Sure they helped pass this, but they passed exactly the legislation they actively worked towards by stalling and back room deal making.

Reward them with some sort of loyalty for what, getting the deal THEY wanted?

22. If you knew anything about the district Stupak
represents, you would know that it's quite a feat to have a Democratic representative. Stupacs votes have been good votes, other than his anti abortion stance. I guarantee if it wasn't for Stupak's ability to juggle both the left and right side of his constituents, his district would go to the republicans.

6. Hooray for Nancy!
I agree, I like Dennis because he supported full Universal coverage, but that was unrealistic An approach such as an introduction to it would be more possible, and build on that. I think Stupak is a worm, and I think HE was grandstanding. I agree that NO male has the right to legislate women and their choices. I think the best approach is for the Democrats to fine tune who runs in elections, pick more left of center candidates, and close the door on bluedogs. As for Nancy Pelosi, Great Woman!

slippery slope to the right. Every Blue Dog would have been a Republican not too many years ago.

20. I would argue your use of the descriptor "middle" as you apply it to Stupak
He is an extremist.

His vote was the result of threats made by House leadership.

26. NO WAY
Stupak GETS NO SUPPORT.

He is the one who made this an issue. He is the one who declared himself the enemy of women.

so, he declared war and I hope he is a casualty of it when the primary votes are counted.

I cannot believe people on this site who claim that this ASSHOLE deserves support!!!!!!

He lost ANY support he will ever get from me. And I hope that other women join me in helping to unseat him.

28. "Back him up" how? "Support" him how?
He helped weaken this bill. We can thank him for eventually voting for the result, but this fucker needs primarying, frankly.

He played the worst sort of politics with the health of our children, friends and loved ones.

He did it for money, and not based on anything I'd call principle.
