In Imus' wake, West Virginia Radio Corp. stops playing some songs (RIGHTWING MEDIA TYCOON ALERT)
Edited on Tue May-01-07 05:34 PM by Adenoid_Hynkel
This is the company owned by John Raese, a millionaire wingnut GOP media tycoon, who challenged Robert Byrd in the last Senate race, broadcasts rightwing radio throughout the state in cluding Rush "Barack the Magic Negro" Limbaugh, and who published horridly racist magazine, The Statesman, for the Marshall University college Republicans in the 90s----
---------

A review of the content of all 24 of West Virginia Radio Corp.'s radio stations has resulted in 5 or 6 percent of the music being pulled from play lists because of inappropriate content, President Dale Miller said.
A review of the stations' content was ordered by Miller last month in the wake of national outrage over Don Imus' racist and sexist comment about the Rutgers University women's basketball team.

The incident reignited debate over language used in the entertainment industry.

West Virginia Radio Corp. announced only that it was reviewing the content of its hip-hop station, WRVZ, Charleston, which is known as "98.7 The Beat." But Miller said the content of all of the company's radio stations was reviewed.
