I have an idea for the teabaggers. They can "opt out" of HCR if they join the Amish.

Someone needs to make up an "application" to join the Amish to hand out to teabaggers. Of course they would have to give up their cars, computers, telephones, electricity, etc. but hey, they would be exempt from HCR.

3. You are correct, of course. Because they would not be sincere. But still - we could hand out
"applications."

4. actually you can't "join" the amish (or the mennonites) and receive this benefits

i am actually of mennonite descent and *i* would not be allowed to re-join the mennonites (after a break of a couple of generations) to avoid paying into social security etc -- i looked into this in the 1980s when i didn't wanna pay taxes to fund ronald reagan killing people in south/central america

if it was that easy, everybody this time of century would already be amish or mennonite or whatever this time of century

you can try starting your own church but even that wouldn't usually work -- NOBODY would pay taxes if it did

6. The church has to have historically been opposed to insurance and in existence in 1952, I believe.
There are very few groups which qualify. Most Mennonite groups don't because they don't prohibit insurance for their members. Not sure about Old Order Mennonites. In any case, it is not "that easy" because there are very few people willing to take on the discipline of the Amish or any of the conservative Mennonite groups who might qualify. However, If someone were to join the Amish, I believe they could make the case for it. Obviously no one is going to join for that reason, though.
