When school children carry rifles to school
and kill innocent classmates, remember this. They are emulating the violent overtones of adults like the TeaPartiers and their ilk. They see the angry rhetoric and hear it more often than ever before. The Limbaughs, Becks, Palins, Bachmanns, Savages, and Liddys all leave impressions in the minds of young people and they interpret violence as being a logical reaction to adversity or disagreement.

Bullying words often translate into bullying actions. The adults normally don't act out on their violent fantasies, but children and young adults often cannot distinguish the line separating violent rhetoric from violent action.

What is so infuriating is that these instigating adults will feign shock when it happens.

2. Exactly, the likes of "The Limbaughs, Becks, Palins, Bachmanns, Savages, and Liddys" and
similar are working to turn the US into a training camp for violence. These people are dangerous IMO and are destroying the notion of free speech because they take no responsibility for the consequences of their inflammatory words and shows. IMO they are cheap militant bellicose scum.

3. Bullshit.
Children who commit violence in schools have no idea of the half-wits of which you speak.

Children who commit violence do so out of a sense of helplessness and survival. These are children who have been so desensitized that they think violence is the natural order of things.

Please do not stick your head in the sand about the violence that already takes place.

And, yes, these people do add to the general atmosphere, but it is a fraction compared to what is already going on.

4. No BS. You speak of desensitivity. Where do you
think it comes from? Are these children born with it? Hell no. They are taught by the adults who have desensitized them. They do pay attention to the violence they see in the heat of public rhetoric. The very desensitization of society is due, in large part, to the violent words they hear in the home or neighborhood.

I'm no child, but I am affected adversely by the hateful rhetoric I read and hear. So is most everyone these days. Hate is infectious. So is violence. Yours is the head in the sand.

5. the desensitizing is not from political rhetoric
they couldn't give a shit less about such things. the desensitizing is from the television shit they watch...the games they play...the lives they fantasize they live in...

8. You make a good point.
Television and video game violence do their part. But children pay attention to everything they observe. If their parents listen to hateful rhetoric and impress their attitudes on their children, then you can bet that it rubs off. The habits of their adult mentors can lead them into violence and bullying.

You make good points. I just disagree that children and young adults are not adversely affected by leaders of Congress and popular radio pundits who publicly advocate for violence. I was a child in a nonpolitical age, but I was aware and paid close attention to most everything whether other people were aware of it or not. And the adults probably did not know how much we young children were aware of, or what a keen sense we possessed of the surrounding environment.

7. Those monsters don't need any talking heads to lead them to that

Teachers feared for their lives everyday before Teapartiers had their first rally.

14. i would challenge you to find even a handful
of teenagers who listen to hate radio. i am around teens all the time...and if it isn't on their iPod/MP3 player they are blissfully unaware. When I was a teen (back in the dark ages) talk radio was on that thing called AM radio and I am pretty sure that button on my radio (or the radio of any of my friends) NEVER got touched.

12. Did you know that STUPAK had a teenaged son who committed suicide with a gun?
After that, Stupak began supporting gun control - !!

Guns make no sense -- they are the opposite of security --
