Solution to Repubs Amendments to Reconciliation in Senate .... LINK
Edited on Wed Mar-24-10 10:22 AM by Blackhatjack
This linked story says Repubs will throw out all kinds of Amendments that Democrats would normally vote against, but will be forced to vote for in order to get the Reconciliation Bill passed in the Senate. They then intend to run TV Ads saying Democrats voted to protect child molesters and rapists with these votes.

However the solution is simple.

ONCE Reconciliation is passed in the Senate after having to vote on all these Republican Amendments they intend to use in the upcoming 2010 political ads, Democrats need to introduce the SAME EXACT AMENDMENTS the Republicans submitted on another bill and Democrats can then vote as they normally would on the content on those Amendments.

That way, when Repubs begin running ads saying Democrats voted on a certain date to protect child molesters and rapists Democrats can run an ad at the same time explaining that they voted FOR RATHER THAN AGAINST on the EXACT SAME LANGUAGE AMENDMENT a short time later when there was not an 'ulterior motive' to KILL RECONCILIATION and slow Health Care Reform.

1. I think you might have meant "vote for rather than against"
these amendments are all ones (that I have seen so far) are very attractive to d's, including denying viagra to sex offenders, etc. Most of us would be FOR that, not AGAINST it. But if they vote FOR it then the bill has to go back again to the house, so they have been told to vote AGAINST all amendments no matter how attractive.

And you are right that they intend to use this against us. :(

3. Meanwhile, the Rethugs will be voting against the reconciliation bill,
which contains provisions eliminating the Cornhusker deal, etc. Can't we use that against them in the same way?
