Raw Story: 24 % of GOP think Obama is the Antichrist
57% still think he is a Muslim and 2/3 think he is a socialist.

Anybody else see this.

And most of those people probably live right here in Kansas City - I hear this stuff all of the time. It just makes my jaw drop.

1. 24% of all GOP think any Dem leader is the Anti-Christ
And, of course, 33% of the GOP are delusional*

*from "77% of statistics on the Internet are made up on the spot to prove one's point."

2. The 24/7 mass media propaganda machine has been very effective...
..in the dumbing down of far too many of our citizens.. Well done, Corporate America.

3. Well....
Keep in mind we're in a country where someone actually thought Jersey Shore would be good television, where brat-pop could actually become popular and where people can be entertained by movies that have no plots or dialogue but that have amazing special effects that dazzle them.

We're not a bright country.

6. We are not a thinking country any more.
Just look at the best sellers. Most of them are terrible. Good literature isn't read by anyone.

What bothers me is not only do these people not think for themselves at all but they are also so hateful. And so rude.

I worry about that.

29. Not to mention that people can get nit wits to believe that shinning a flashlight
under their chin and talking about how scared they are is proof that ghosts exist and walk among the living.

8. Sorry not buying it. Antichrist simply means ni**er.
If somebody truly thought there was an antichrist, like say from 'The Omen' movies and let's face it that's the only antichrist people can relate to, if they truly thought Obama was the anti-christ they would be running away and hiding in fear. Not buying it.

12. I have talked to at leaast one man who honest to god thinks
Obama is the Antichrist and he is just crazy with fear about it.

Those guys are really out there for real. You have to live here with all the Evangelical churches and holy roller churches to get a feel for that stuff. Its crazy but people have been led to beleive it all of their lives. They are so afraid of hell and the devil that they are afraid to not believe it.

14. Presiding While Black.
It's amazing the logical contortions these people go through to blame their own stupidity on anything but racism. I work with a few. I take the bus with a bunch. There's several on my street. None of 'em will just come right out and say it. Scratch that. There's one guy from the shop at my work. The N word is his favorite word, and he's not too fond of the Jeeeeuuuuwwwws either.

17. Yea. Racism is right under the surface around here, too.
People don't say stuff out loud because they are afraid to. But after they get to know you they say lots of stuff - and its all pretty horrible.

It's not just blacks - its everybody that is different. Its every idea that's different.

They live in a very narrow world.

15. We do make up our own reality.
Some people live in a very scary world full of demons and devils. I have talked to people here who have horrible nightmares about demons coming to get them.

And they seem completely unable to alter their point of view.

22. education
And the repcons have helped create that alternate reality by devaluing education defunding it as much and as often as possible, witness the recent State Board of Education textbook decisions in Texass.
he key to this education... If you look at the numbers, all of these are really about lack of education just as much as ideology. The numbers are much different for those without a high school education and those with graduate degrees. For instance, 7% of those with a graduate degree think Obama was not born in the country, whereas 43% of high school graduates or less. 9% of those without a college degree think he's anti-American, whereas 27% of those without a degree. If the American public became better educated and more used to reading data and complex ideas, this absurd screaming about "socialism" and "communism" would take care of itself.
And then they shriek about how we're losing our "competitive advantage"

20. .
What did you expect? "Welcome, sonny"? "Make yourself at home"? "Marry my daughter"? You've got to remember that these are just simple farmers. These are people of the land. The common clay of the new West. You know... morons.

23. Actually, farmers aren't so simple any more.
They are all busninessmen and a lot of them have college educations. But they still hold on to the old time religion. Goes back generations in their families.

But we have lots and lots of blue collar rednecks around here who are horribly racist.

30. Are you surprised? Remember when Limbaugh was hyping him as 'the saviour'?
No Democrat called him that. No Democrat thought of him as that.

But every Limbaugh-listening dittohead THINKS we thought that because it's been driven into their heads day after day by day. And if they think WE think he's the Messiah, it's no great leap for them to consider him the anti-Christ.
