When will the Electoral College be updated? 2010 census...
I've seen estimates that Repubs gain 5-7 electoral votes from typical pub states in 2012... including Dem state losses.

If it's true... and we'll know WHEN after the census? But IF it's true that kinda' means the Pubs need one less state to get 270.

1. It all depends
on how things play out. California, which is typically a blue state probably will pick up a couple of electors. Florida which has been purple will pick up some as well, as will red state Texas.

So in the end it might all be a wash.

AZ: +2
FL: +2
GA: +1
SC: +1
UT: +1
NV: +1

= +12

OH: -2
IA: -1
IL: -1
LA: -1
MA: -1
MI: -1
MN: -1
MO: -1
NJ: -1
NY: -1
PA: -1

= -12

Re: California... we've lost a lot of people in the last few years, moving to NV, AZ and TX. But we've had an influx of Hispanics... probably a wash.

3. I believe shortly after 12/31/2010 it will go out to the states.
It might happen before that but I believe the results will be certified for the count itself. Then it is up to the states to complete their process of redistricting.
