Five Things to do during Earth Hour
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/kevin-grandia/5-things-to-do-in-the-ear_b_515977.html
<snip>
1. Ya know (wink, wink). Okay, it probably is the best thing to do on a Saturday night with the lights out for an hour. I know there is a lot of kids born 9 months after the Christmas Holidays. I wonder if there will be a big bump in babies 9 months from today?

2. Risk, Monopoly or any other classic board game. Remember board games? Those things we all played before Guitar Hero and Wii Bowling? Light some candles, dust off the Trivial Pursuit and have fun!

3. Camp fire. Make sure its legal before you do it, but what's more fitting than a campfire and some Kumbya during Earth Hour.

4. Kick back with a glass of wine and stare off into the nothingness. No music, no computer, no phone, no Blackberry (my wife's very happy about this one). Just an hour of silent bliss.

5. Go for a walk. See how many of your neighbors are also taking part. I bet you will be surprised how many other people are concerned about climate change and taking part in Earth Hour along with you.

4. A walk around our block
and then watch the stars is what we will be doing. Enjoying the weather and the quiet of the desert.

5. I'll be listening to the raindrops
falling through my leaky cieling
while the cat will soon be stealing that last crumb
from her dish

Drip. Tick. Drip. Tick. Drip. Tick. Tinkle-dink.

and I'll say a prayer for peace in that percussive preforated silence, maybe play the guitar
and have hope that people are good and we can do the right thing
for ourselves and for the planet

or maybe, I'll just write a poem,
turn back on the lights,
and go to bed.

7. My lights are out; I'm running computer on battery, listening to battery radio.
... and I'm still less in the dark than the tea partiers!
