Working Class Hero
A song for the times, for sure...

Working Class Hero - John Lennon

As soon as you're born, they make you feel small
By giving you no time instead of it all,
'Til the pain is so big you feel nothing at all.
A working class hero is something to be.
A working class hero is something to be.

They hurt you at home and they hit you at school,
They hate you if you're clever and they despise a fool,
'Til you're so fucking crazy you can't follow their rules.
A working class hero is something to be.
A working class hero is something to be.

When they've tortured and scared you for twenty odd years,
Then they expect you to pick a career,
When you can't really function, you're so full of fear.
A working class hero is something to be.
A working class hero is something to be.

Keep you doped with religion and sex and TV,
And you think you're so clever and classless and free,
But you're still fucking peasants as far as I can see.
A working class hero is something to be.
A working class hero is something to be.

There's room at the top, they are telling you still,
But first you must learn how to smile as you kill,
If you want to be like the folks on the hill.
A working class hero is something to be.
A working class hero is something to be.

If you want to be a hero well just follow me.
If you want to be a hero well just follow me.

1. One of those things you remember exactly what you were
doing when it happened. In the car going to buy beer when I heard John Lennon died on the radio. In the store was a girl I went to school with. We talked about it a few years ago and she remembers me telling her.
I think about it and it's like I'm back there. Beautiful sunny day turned tragic in a second.

2. I was too young to remember it. Only a toddler.
But I can still see how much we lost, and how much we need him right now... :(

3. Thanks.......
Not to mention Gimme Some Truth......

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qn85BeeiwZo

I'm sick and tired of hearing things
From uptight, short-sighted, narrow-minded hypocrites
All I want is the truth
Just gimme some truth

I've had enough of reading things
By neurotic, psychotic, pig-headed politicians
All I want is the truth
Just gimme some truth

No short-haired, yellow-bellied, son of Tricky Dicky
Is gonna mother hubbard soft soap me
With just a pocketful of hope
Money for dope
Money for rope

I'm sick to death of seeing things
From tight-lipped, condescending, mama's little chauvinists
All I want is the truth
Just gimme some truth now

I've had enough of watching scenes
Of schizophrenic, ego-centric, paranoiac, prima-donnas
All I want is the truth now
Just gimme some truth

No short-haired, yellow-bellied, son of Tricky Dicky
Is gonna mother hubbard soft soap me
With just a pocketful of hope
It's money for dope
Money for rope

Ah, I'm sick to death of hearing things
from uptight, short-sighted, narrow-minded hypocrites
All I want is the truth now
Just gimme some truth now

I've had enough of reading things
by neurotic, psychotic, pig-headed politicians
All I want is the truth now
Just gimme some truth now

All I want is the truth now
Just gimme some truth now
All I want is the truth
Just gimme some truth
All I want is the truth
Just gimme some truth

4. Beatlemania v. Lennonmania
I love how my parents are always pissed off at Yoko for breaking up the Beatles, but if it wasn't for her there would be no "Give Peace a Chance", "Imagine", "Working Class Hero", "Gimme Some Truth".

5. hell yeah
Yoko! Yoko! I always thought that she got a bum wrap - it's as if Lennon had no mind of his own and she somehow put a spell on him. lol

I love this song and most anything he did though. RATM too. ;)
