1. I'm "boycotting" Discovery
since they decided to hire Quitterella to do her reality show.

23. That's Probably The Local Cable "Provider"
I get commercials for the local Dreck show on several channels here...really stupid and hope the station spent a lot of money on them. I haven't seen any on Discovery programming itself.

17. They stuck her on TLC at least--so I won't accidentally happen upon her while watching Discovery.

32. Since when has TLC been "The Learning Channel"?
If it's not about families with a freakish number of kids, it's about "little people".

They should just call it the "Little People and Ginormous Families" Channel.

7. I think that it is truly amazing. the photography is jawdropping.
Edited on Sun Mar-28-10 07:44 PM by BrklynLiberal
I think that the name should have been Life and Death though. It seems that there is a lot of concentration on the death part of life.
I know it is all part of Nature, but I do not particularly enjoy watching animals kill other animals...even if it is their means of survival.
There is so much beauty and awe surrounding each of these creatures...I would not miss the kill scenes at all...

11. The photography is out of this world fabulous
I don't particularly like the killing but I prefer to see reality and there is no escaping the food chain.
I'm loving the series.

20. Me too!
I was looking forward to watching but was turned off immediately by the killing.

I know it's nature but my spirits being so low to begin with really can't take it. The photography was beautiful though.

31. That's why I stopped watching these shows.
Not enough information and endless killing sequences.
At age 50, I am well-informed on how lions eat. I've seen the lion/antelope video a thousand times.
Now I read books on the natural world and it's much more informative.

16. Why would you want Mike Rowe to subject himself to something so horrible?
The man has disemboweled animals, shoveled every kind of shit known to man, cleaned out coal mines, gone "noodling", but he's never experienced the horror that is Sarah Palin and I'd like to keep it that way.

15. "Life" is incredible
though I would prefer it with the guy from the BBC narrating, David Attenborough. He did my DVD version of "Planet Earth". Oprah as narrator is too jarring for me.

Go to your local Imax and see HUBBLE 3D. Best Imax ever. And.. you will come out feeling about as relevant as a grain of sand on the beach. Sometimes it takes a universe to make people see past all the pettiness to the big picture. Traveling to the other side of the galaxy and beyond is a trip I recommend to everyone.

36. Seems to be mostly re-hashed footage from "Planet Earth."
And Oprah's narration *sucks* compared to Sir David's.
