A question about a possible "protest" ...
Locally, the community I live in honored a fallen Marine. His hearse was greeted by a respectful crowd. Thankfully, no Westboro Baptist types. (A few years ago, a RW host of a "Top 40" radio station implied that "liberals" would be causing problems at soldiers funerals, despite the fact that the "protesters" at such events lean more toward his political leanings than to the left).

I did notice something in the reports in the print media covering the event. In two separate pictures, two people were seen holding up a large American flag, one on each end. I'd say at least 6 feet in length.

The question about the "protest" is this ... Is there really a "background" protest going on, where RWers are using the American flag with 48 stars? I can see why they don't want to recognize Hawaii - birthplace of Obama. But is there an unofficial movement to this sort of thing?

I mentioned this to Mrs. ZBDent, and she was confused as to why it would have 48 stars, instead of 49, if they weren't recognizing Hawaii. I pointed out that Alaska and Hawaii both became states as almost the same time, so the last "outdated" flags would have 48 stars, not 49.

Have there been places which resumed making 48 star U.S. flags?
