Ha Ha! Palin's Faux TV Show down 28% in Viewers 25-54 vs Greta's Ratings
While coming in first in its time perid -- beating the Total Viewer average of the 10pm programs on MSNBC, CNN and HLN combined -- FNC's "Real American Stories with Sarah Palin" was down substantially versus the performance of "On the Record with Greta Van Susteren" last Thursday as well as that program's Thursday average for the month of March. "Real American Stories" delivered 2.073 million Total Viewers and 472k A25-54 viewers, down 10% versus last Thursday among Total Viewers and down 28% in A25-54. For all Thursdays in March 2010, the "Stories" premiere was down 10% among Total Viewers and down 19% in A25-54.

Looking at quarter hour data, "Real American Stories" shed viewers from start to finish -- down 18% among Total Viewers (2.319mm vs. 1.895mm) and down 22% in A25-54 (533k vs. 418k) from the program's first to its final quarter hour.

1. So her audience is 1.4 million old people?
These numbers don't make sense to me. I thought the 25 to 54 demographic was the largest one by far of tv viewers.

5. Not necessarily. That's the demographic television aims to attract, however. . .
as 25 to 54 year olds spend more money than other demographics, so advertisers like to see more of them than other age groups.

2. Steadily shed viewers as hour went on
Sarah Palin's "Real American Stories" Fox News Special generated its fair share of controversy, but that didn't translate into a ratings boost.

The special, which debuted Thursday night in Greta Van Susteren's "On the Record" time slot, drew 2.073 million total viewers and 472,000 A25-54 viewers. While that was more than enough to win the timeslot (beating everything else on cable news in the hour combined), it's an unspectacular number for Fox News. TVNewser notes that Palin's special was down 10% in total viewers and 28% in the demo compared to Greta's previous Thursday episode.

Palin's lead-in, "Hannity," averaged 2.256 million total viewers and 526,000 A25-54 viewers.

It's possible they tuned in and then tuned out: TVNewser also notes, based on quarter-hour viewing data, that the special "shed viewers from start to finish." Ratings for the final 15 minutes were down 18% in total viewers and 22% in A25-54 viewers compared to the first 15 minutes.

4. The dropoffs during the broadcast what the most interesting
thing to me. That means she couldn't hold the viewers & THAT'S what the networks watch the closest! Not sounding too good for the quiter to me.
