Poll question: Does voting even really matter in America anymore?
Edited on Wed Apr-07-10 01:10 PM by branders seine
To some, it seems no matter whom the people elect, they end up serving the interests of the wealthy and corporations first and foremost. Even then, elections in the last 30 years have been of questionable validity more often than not.

Do you feel like your vote really even matters anymore?

1. yes and no
sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. I chose the last option on the poll and grateful it was there.

3. Heck yea! We've done an excellent job on election reform. I'm sure my vote counts!
Edited on Wed Apr-07-10 01:01 PM by nc4bo
You betcha *wink*

Sorry to let my frustrations show through. Who really knows for sure. Our election system is broken and has been broken for quite some time and there are monsters lurking in the shadows and even talking about it can get you tossed into the realm of conspiracy theorist.

It doesn't matter what you or I or any citizen wants or needs, it's the corporations wants and needs that get met and the rest of us poor slobs just have wait for the trickle down effect.

4. If you lived in VA you'd realize how important it is that many '08 Obama voters did NOT vote in '09.

10. In a rep democracy not as far along in its collapse as ours, yes, of course
As it is, however, the system is rigged 100%

12. Voting is more than just the national elections
Voting definitely DOES matter. It can decide if your city's sales tax is raised, what your children will learn, etc. While I can think that no, my democratic vote for president doesn't matter much since I'm in Texas, I sure as hell know that all those local and state elections DO matter. If all the democrats in Texas think we don't matter and skip voting we'll end up another 4 years of Rick Perry fucking up this state. :)

13. Right up there behind
writing to your Congresspeople or Senators, signing petitions, etc. It's all an elaborate shadow show now. The motions are gone through to keep up the facade.
