The President's deadly tantrum.

Paul Campos in Truthout today on Bush's pursuit of this war:

"All this is exactly what one would expect in the way of a political farewell gesture from a spoiled rich kid who never grew up. Future generations of historians will note George W. Bush made a mess of every real job he ever had - and, unfortunately for America, the presidency of the United States proved to be no exception."

1. It was interesting to hear Bush channeling Kerry from 2004.

Kerry said we should tamp down terrorism until it was more of a "nuisance" than a nation-stopping threat, acknowledging that it could never be eliminated entirely. For this he was pilloried as a "Defeatocrat" by Bush, the Dick, and the right-wing screechosphere.

Now here is Bush saying that "victory" in Iraq does not mean a cessation of all violence (we have violence at times in America, he points out helpfully). Apparently we just have to reduce the terrorism there to a level that allows the government to function.

Um, isn't that basically what Kerry said?
