Why Are The Teabaggers Almost Exclusively White?

That should tell you something.

The only things missing are hoods, robes, crosses, and matches.

And not one face that wasn't white. It was strange. This is a good sized urban community. There aren't a lot of places you can go here and not see people of color.

There are quite a few Asian and Hispanic Republicants. Very few in the Teabagger Movement. The Teabaggers Are The Klan Auxiliary of the Republicant Party.

Unless a majority of the party is non-white, then the Republican party is indeed made up mostly of whites.

About 30% of Hispanics. Not sure about Asians.

I haven't seen one at a Teabagger rally.

Conservative Hispanic Catholics who probably don't consider themselves Indian and Asians relocated in the US through Uncle Sam's Benedict Arnold Protection Program vote GOP. The rest of us vote sensibly in our own interests.

I was pointing out that, unless white Repubs are a minority within their party, then the party clearly is mostly white.

Whether or not "there are significant Asian and Hispanic minorities in the Republican Party" doesn't change that; until those minorities--even in the aggregate--outnumber whites, then the party will remain mostly white.


It's like having a bucket containing 15 snakes and 5 eels. Perhaps eels make up a significant minority, but the bucket is still mostly snakes.

The original assertion: The TeaBagger party is mostly white because the Republican Party is mostly white.

Your assertion: Not really.

And you followed that assertion with a mention of the GOP's minority constituency.


If your initial intent was to point out that the US itself is mostly white, then that's what you should have said IMO. That would have been more clear than apparently trying to count the minority as the majority.

My original assertion, in the post you responded to (since it was my one and ONLY post on this thread) was that since the United States is populated by white people to the tune of 80%, that the majority of BOTH parties is white.

Couldn't you wear a big, flashy hat or something, so that I can recognize you more easily? Maybe something with pinwheels that launch colored streamers, or something?

Matter of fact since the beginning but I was in the Netherlands for several years and lost my original membership. Several of us go way back to the beginning of the MSNBC boards over a decade ago. I just never got re-involved over here.

Damned if I know where these conservative voting uber-Catholic latinos are, maybe it's because I'm in California where Republicans will probably never manage a decent shot with latino voters until Pete Wilson is dead and forgotten, but I've never met one.

I suspect any national stats that don't put Cubans in their own category are mostly going to give a deceptive impression of latino voters generally since Cubans are a reliable Republican voting bloc.

When I say moderate I mean somewhat sane, more of a traditional Eisenhower republican.

The teabaggers are to the far extreme right and basically batshit crazy. I think the teabaggers frighten minorities.

My poimt was there are still some Asian, Hispanic, and even Afrioan American Republicants; not as many as there used to be.

The Teabaggers frighten non-majority folks. They wouldn't feel safe or comfortable at their rallies.

They come out every few years with new names, but they are still protesting desegregation, and just giving it different names. Most non-whites and even most whites just think they are disingenuous idiots. If they gave a shit about taxes or government spending they'd have been more active under Bush and less active now.

People who are actually impoverished and oppressed have little time to concern themselves with such off-the-wall theories, and no money to travel or pay the admission to these events. They spend their time trying to find work and wondering where their next lunch is coming from. Having spent some time there, I can assure you that this is the case.

It takes some measure of luxury to sit on your butt all day listening to Rush and Fox to get your head filled with these notions. It takes an even greater measure of luxury to have a dependable car to travel in and the cash to waste on admission to a Palin event. These people are not oppressed, they just like to think they are. The oppressed and impovershed among us have no time or money to waste on a collection of weapons and militia regalia. This is a hobby of the faux oppressed middle class. They may be the folks who aren't quite "keeping up with the Joneses", but they all look pretty well fed. The vast majority (nearly all) of folks I know currently in this situation are caucasian. I have been to "The Villages".
