Where in the constitution does it specify our economic system?
I am not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but my recollection is that there is nothing about what kind of economic system that the country should employ. Capitalism is not preferred, socialism or even communism is not prohibited.
And where oh where does anyone get the idea that unfettered capitalism is the one and only economic answer?

1. Where "the idea" comes from:
All the big corporations that make huge bundles of money off of it.

3. Unfettered capitalism is inherently predatory. It's like we
sacrifice our country's poor to the all mighty Free Market volcano hoping it won't take us all out. Fuck You, Milton Friedman.

4. Where does anyone get the idea that capitalism in the US is unfettered?
Fetters are perfectly valid and perfectly real. People can doubtless quibble that some should be looser and some should be tighter, but to imply non exist is silliness.

5. It gives the federal government the powers to regulate interstate commerce and import/export

Other than that, the intent was to allow the economy to develop naturally.
