Dem Talking Points On Tea Party Protests

Talking Points on April 15th Tea Party Protests

*Democrats understand and respect the anger of the American people towards policies of the past decade that favored Wall Street, big banks, and the well-to-do over American families.

................

*It was the Republican Party during eight years of GOP control that turned record surpluses into record deficits, favored the special interests and their lobbyists over the interests of ordinary Americans, cut taxes for corporate CEO’s and the wealthy while wages for regular Americans declined, and it was Republicans that allowed Wall Street to run wild and drive the American economy into a ditch.

* Even today, Republicans are standing with Wall Street and the big banks and opposing reforms that would protect consumers and prevent future bailouts, while it’s Democrats looking out for American families and demanding accountability from Wall Street.

.................

* The energy of Tea Party protestors would be better channeled towards Republicans in Congress who continue to stand with insurance companies, banks, and Wall Street lobbyists over American families and small businesses.

Oh yes because the Democratic Party is SOOOO pure. Special interests don't rule at all.

5. I would find it easier to buy "Democrats are the same as Republicans" if the right wing
wasn't trying so hard to destroy Democrats. I am talking about the hate for Obama that is being fueled by these corporate funded "grassroots" organizations like Americans for Prosperity and FreedomWorks. The amount of demonization being encouraged by those groups and Fox is astounding.

To me they are trying to create a climate where Obama and Democrats will be murdered. "If Obama is Hitler he must be stopped."

They are scared and are willing to destroy by any means necessary.

Just a comment, not an argument

7. Because I don't beleive Dems are as big of corporate wh*res as the Republicans
Sure some are.

There is a very concentrated war being waged on Obama and the Democrats by some pretty big corporate/political players.

8. I don't knock your assertion that there is a "war" being waged
on Obama + the democrats but I'd much rather we go beyond Democrats and Repubs or at the very least we need progressive Dems.

At the same time, sure there is a corporate war being waged on the Obama + Democrats but both parties are getting money from Wall Street, the health insurance industry, Big Pharma, the media, etc.

There are a few principled people in the Democratic Party as it relates to Congress but I'd much rather seen Green Party members in Congress and more Democratic Socialists.
