a single challenge to their accuracy.

This bullshit that passes for life in this country is driving me crazy. I am completely beside myself.

1. Boycott television political shows today
Go turn on some nice music, or make a donation to an embattled Democratic congressional or senate campaign, or take a walk, or do some spring cleaning, or play solitaire.

2. Turn it off. I have drastically decreased my cable-"news" time, and it keeps me
from unnecessary agitation.

7. I haven't been watching cable 'news' like I used to. Since December I've only
Edited on Thu Apr-15-10 11:25 AM by Subdivisions
tuned in if I was passing by the channel on the way to another channel and something on there catches my attention or if there was a big breaking news story like the Haiti earthquake. I work from home and it's very hard to shake all of it. Anyways, I was channel surfing a moment ago when I saw John Harwood (who I've met) talking to a teabagger and allowing him to spew his insanity. Harwood made absolutely no attempt to correct the misinformation the teabagger was shitting right there into the microphone.

Of course I immediately changed the channel in disgust. I'm now watching Col. Klink being scolded for allowing an American to escape on Hogan's Heroes on TVLand.

18. Well, on a personal level, it does indeed go away. I don't watch Fox, so
I can't get pissed off about it. Don't watch Morning Joe, so I can't get pissed off about it. I understand that ugly, unfortunate stuff is going on nationally that I need to be aware of (hence why I like DU), but at some point a self-protective mechanism must kick in.

3. Good news--the teabaggers still think the media's against them
Because sometimes the media has the audacity to cover the teabaggers' violent and racist rhetoric.

4. Maybe we need to get off of our asses
and arrange our own protest against the news cable!

We have yet to organize anything. Instead, we just sit there watching
what the other side is doing, and and talking about it adnauseum.
I'm not sure if that strategy is going to change hearts and minds
....waiting for them to implode.

Considering how much help the Teabaggers get, if we don't "do" something,
this may be a propaganda campaign that could work.

Seems like the only thing we "do" is to say that we aren't going to donate
to the DNC, and we are going to criticize Obama still for everything and anything
we don't like. Until we get proactive against the opposition instead of our own,
I'm not sure things will change.

Won't be covered!
But ask me if I give a flying fuck. I've had to turn it off. Going to save some money soon by shutting the whole shit'n thing down.

12. It would be covered if we had the numbers and the message.
Of course, some people would rather just sit around and complain about things and talk about how hopeless it all is.

19. They're going to "voice support for Obama's middle-class tax cuts."
That should confuse the tea-baggers!! ("Whu? Middle-class tax cuts? Yeah but Glenn Beck said...")

10. Your words describe my #1 complaint and source of exasperation. When
I see commentary here regarding the antics of the teabaggers, I want to know what WE are doing to counter them. Exasperatingly, nothing! When we discuss their attendance numbers, I ask where are the images of our counter event?

Good post, Frenchie.

11. I agree we need to get up off our a** and do something to counter the media
and the Tea Party. I just don't think going after the media is the way to go. I think we need to callenge the Tea Party with our own rallies and talking points in support of our President and the positive things that have been happening since he has been in office.
Personally, I think President Obama is one of the best President's we have had in a very long time and he deserves much more support from us and our party leaders.

All this teabag ruckus is just a diversion tactic to get people to look away from the smoldering dungheap that is today's GOP.

9. The tea Party is news. We could form a party in support of our President and our Democrats
Edited on Thu Apr-15-10 11:21 AM by wisteria
and call it something catchy too. People who support the changes the President is making could use some support and encouragement. And, we could then challenge the lies and nonsense being reported by the news media from the Tea Party.
Where is our voice in all the things happening right now?

14. I've had similar thoughts but we have too many
people right now who were vested in tantrumming this past year to be able to pull that off successfully I fear. I'd participate gladly.

some of their own perceived issues with our President and join in support of the larger message. I really feel we need to do some thing soon or we are going to be railroaded by the Republicans, the media and the Tea Partyer's.

23. Would love to join a march but I'm still trying to figure out just what the "larger message" is.
Do we carry signs that say "COMPROMISE NOW!"??

I can support and defend messages like;

"Break up the Banks!"
"Medicare for All!"
"End the Wars!"

I'm just so frustrated with the Democratic unclear and garbled messages.

20. I guarantee you if you either change the channel or just turn it the fuck off you'll
be a much happier person.

That's why I don't watch ANY cable news. Fuck Fox, CNN AND MSNBC. I get my news from the Internet, or, failing that, Jon Stewart.
