Why hasn't ONE 'news' person asked a Tea Bagger if they paid MORE in taxes this year than last
Edited on Thu Apr-15-10 03:15 PM by blm
year?

By most accounts, so far, I've heard working and MIDDLE CLASS wage earners are getting MORE back. So are the upper class and wealthy. So....why isn't ONE news person daring to ask these protestors why they are protesting NOW about taxes when they are getting MORE back, when they didn't protest paying taxes under Bush?

1. TeaBaggers and The Media have the same boss...
It wouldn't be prudent to ask such questions... there may be an answer!

3. You are assuming we have "news reporters" these days, when we have
people with great hair who read scripts from teleprompters.

Not the same thing.

4. Strangely, I am paying a couple thousand bucks and I usually get money back.
I'm not about to go join the teabaggers, though. I think it has more to do with losing my son as a dependent this year as it was his first year to file a return and less to do with any changes in the tax structure.

9. True - not strange, only unexpected.
Because I am not nearly old enough for all my children to be grown.

Or so I like to think. D'oh.

6. Because the 'news' people are too busy trying to 'mainstream' the fringe teabag movement
It is infuriating how much the teabaggers are being promoted by cable news.

That New York Times poll says that 18% of Americans identify themselves as teabaggers. (a strangely similar number to Bush's favorable numbers at the end of his term)

8. NPR did- sort of.
"When it comes to taxes, the Obama administration has actually cut taxes for 95 percent of Americans through a federal income tax credit.

But Varley says she doesn't believe that — no matter what the government says. And regardless, she says she's worried about what's to come with the rising deficit."

13. .
Even if the discussion is restricted to federal taxes (for which the statistics are better), a vast majority of households end up paying federal taxes. Congressional Budget Office data suggests that, at most, about 10 percent of all households pay no net federal taxes. The number 10 is obviously a lot smaller than 47.

The reason is that poor families generally pay more in payroll taxes than they receive through benefits like the Earned Income Tax Credit. It’s not just poor families for whom the payroll tax is a big deal, either. About three-quarters of all American households pay more in payroll taxes, which go toward Medicare and Social Security, than in income taxes.

17. I think the mouthpieces are ordered to promote and whitewash the so-called 'movement' just as they
were ordered to promote Bush's war agenda and whitewash his actual record.
