Republican Lee Terry hit the $1 million milestone in fundraising, but Democrat Tom White has stockpiled a healthy war chest, according to federal campaign reports released by the candidates Thursday.

Terry and White are running for the Omaha-based 2nd Congressional District seat.

Terry is a six-term incumbent, while White, a state senator, is making his first bid for Congress.

Both campaigns said they planned to have enough cash on hand to run aggressively this fall, bombarding voters with mail, telephone calls and advertisements.

"We continue to meet all of our fundraising targets and are running a campaign that will reach into all corners of Nebraska's 2nd District," said David Boomer, Terry's campaign manager.

"We will have the resources needed to contrast my record of effective, independent leadership with Terry's decade in Washington," said White.
