Kudos to Chris Matthews for his interviews tonight.
I just watched a couple of interviews by Chris Matthews with a couple of Tea Party leaders.

I must commend Chris Matthews for his penetrating questions. He pointed out the massive amount of hypocrisy in the Tea Party movement, with the doubling of the national debt under Bush, and how he didn't see them marching back then?

One of the Tea Party leaders said that the debt had grown under Bush but not as quickly or suddenly as it has under Barack Obama. Matthews reminded them that Barack Obama inherited an economic condition that could very well have turned into the 2nd Great Depression and that Keynesian economics was used to keep our country from sliding into such a huge economic collapse.

For every comment they offered in defense of the Tea Party movement, Chris Matthews parried them with an even deeper question. Why do so many think he was not even born in America, even after the newspaper in Hawaii had printed the birth announcement, he asked?

Just who are these "Tea Partiers"?? It is obvious by now that the huge majority of them are or were sympathetic to the Republican Party? Why did they leave? Perhaps they were angry with Bush and the Republicans for their wars, their costs, the huge deficits and doubling of the national debt? Perhaps they thought Barack Obama was going to fix the problem in some other way than Keynesian economics?

Whatever the reason, most of them split from the Republican Party. The Party is sending their sweethearts out to meet them, hoping to win them back to the cause. With 60% of the Tea Party people polled saying they would not support Sarah Palin for President at this time, it shows that the Republican Party has a long way to go in winning back these deeply disenchanted Republicans.

1. I'm not a huge fan, but
he did do a lot of confronting this eve, as you cited. I'm happy he and the rest of of the evening pundits were all actively pointing out that Tea Baggers are by and large conservative REPUBLICANS. (the same old extreme wingers, just crazier than ever).

Now we're getting somewhere.

2. I wrote him a letter the day before.....
Hope he read it!

Here it is:

Dear Chris,

On your last show, I watched you mention that Sarah Palin and Michelle Bachmann are drawing "large" Crowds. In your conversation with Bill Maher, you stated that this is why the News Media is "obsessed" with Ms. Palin in particular. Is that right?

Now Chris, why lie? Ms. Palin never really has attracted the big crowds that you speak of. Never has she drawn the 100,000 that Pres. Obama attracted in St. Louis, in Oregon and the giant crowds that he attracted consistently throughout the campaign. Nope, not ever. However, the media has tried real hard to make us believe that. In fact, the media has tried really, really hard to make that happen (perhaps that's why she keeps being pushed upon us). But my question to you is why? Why would you sit on television and simply lie about how she attracted 10,000 in Boston yesterday?

Here's a shot of that crowd. that may be 2,000 if she's lucky!

So my question to you again....why is the media lying about the distraction known as Sarah Palin. What's the agenda. Is she just a shiny object put out there till the real "supersta'" of the Republican party is put out there?

You see Mr. Matthews, many folks can see right through you and the rest of the 24/7 gang. I used to be impressed with the media that we had back in the 1970s, but now, the media is a circus, and it is quite dangerous to the health of this nation. When one has the Press literally lying to our face day in, day out, it's hard to be impressed.

The media let Bush off the hook for years into his presidency, and Barack Obama can't get a fair shake while he cleans up the Bush mess that the media circus helped create. It is nothing more than disgusting....those media lies I mean. How can you even sleep at night knowing that in reality, you are hurting Americans everyday by getting paid to push an agenda that messes with the democratic intent of this country. How do you do it? Is it the money or is it the fame? What pleasure do you derive in taking part in the propaganda being spread all over our land? I know you are supposed to be one of the good guys, and you probably justify what you do because as far as you are concerned, you don't always do it....but you know, even one lie is one too many; we simply cannot afford it.

Sincerely,

XXXXXXXXXXXXXX

3. I don't think hypocrites adequately describes the Teabaggers
I like propagandists better. It's really nothing more than an astroturf propaganda machine funded by the usual GOP corporate sponsors with Palin as the annointed minister of propaganda, and a few thousand useful idiots. They have absolutely no interest in substantive debate on any issue, defending their positions, or even offering anything that makes much sense. They are loosely formed grabastic pieces of shit intent on screaming mindless sound bites and holding up ridiculous signs that might as well say, "I'm a narrowminded, ignorant fuckstick and proud of it!"
