"Corporations don't pay taxes, people do", Marcia Blackburn (R) Tenn. How to decrease our taxes, yet
increase revenue.

Marcia Blackburn stated on 'Meet the Press" today the republican talking point that "Corporations don't pay taxes, people do".

What they claim is that if you raise taxes on Corp's, they simply pass the costs on to consumers.

IF TRUE, we can eliminate the personal income tax, and only tax corporations!

I call it my "No Tax" plan.

By only taxing corporations, we free up the IRS to really go after these bastards!

We can use their own talking point against them and usurp their anti-tax base.

1. I think it should be illegal for corporations to pass the cost of taxes
to the consumer. It should be the cost of doing business just like buying a business license.
Do not outlaw corporate taxes but make it illegal to pass it on to consumers.

2. That is absolutely impossible.

How would you mechanically do that? Also, the burden would get passed on to the owners of capital anyway. The corporations can't serve as sinks for taxes. Someone will bear their cost.

5. Any cost of doing business is passed to the consumer.
The business license, the electric bill, the cost of employees, everything.

6. Especially the cost of CEO's.
Why can't we tax them?

7. The CEO's salary is taxed.
Maybe not as much as we would like but it is taxed.

11. Er...that's sort of meaningless
For example, a business license is usually calculated as a percentage of revenue. I think you need to revisit basic accounting concepts.

3. From an economic perspective, this is actually entirely correct.
Costs are all borne by one of the following:

1. Owners of capital
2. Consumers
3. Workers at the corporations

There is a great deal of consensus among economists on this point. Even fairly left of center economists here at the University of Wisconsin would tell you the same.

9. In effect making corporations tax collectors
by farming out the collection of taxes to them.

I realize that is not your intent.
