Leaked: The media's formula for deciding whether a protest is representative of how Americans feel
Edited on Mon Apr-19-10 03:23 PM by ck4829
(Number of people protesting) * ((Number of slogans)+(Number of 3 word responses and thought terminating cliches)+(Number of times someone says they "heard it from a friend" or received information in a (chain) email)) + (Number of guns, grenades, sticks of dynamite, rocket launchers, etc., visible) * (Number of wealthy backers and sponsors) / (Number of scary non-white people) = The media's decision as to whether a protest is representative of America

That way 20,000 people can protest against the Iraq War and they will be called an isolated bunch of kooks.
And that 30 people can be protesting against Obama and screaming "SOCIALISM!" over and over again, and it will be called a barometer of America.

3. IMO, they spiked the coverage of the War Protests because
GWB and the Republicans would have raised a storm with them.
Called their Corporate buddies and have them come down on them.

Patriotism was the watchword. Any dissent could not be covered.
It was essential to have the country look united. Therefore,
showing large crowds of war protestors contradicted the storyline.
(IMO

There was never real discussion if they managed to show one short
clip of an anti-war demonstration.

These hour after hour discussion of Tea Party activities follow
our elitist society practices. Those perceived to have money and education
get coverage. After all they are the "likely voters".

Money talks.

5. I dunno -- I think that your formula overestimates the integrity and common sense of the MSM.
In reality, it's much worse than this.

;-)
