Comcast Says They are NOT a Partner in RightNetwork
Monday Apr 19, 2010
You may have seen the reports about NBCU suitor Comcast partnering with RightNetwork, which is set to launch this summer.

After the original report in Crooks & Liars, and its pick-up around the web including King Drudge, Comcast responded: "We have no partnership with this venture and have no plans to launch or distribute the network. As we have done with hundreds of other content providers, we have met with the network's representatives."

In his first story for Yahoo!, former Politico-er Michael Calderone writes:

Recently, there's been speculation that Comcast - which is in the process of acquiring NBC Universal, which includes MSNBC - might someday launch a right-leaning political network. Comcast executive vice president David L. Cohen didn't rule it out in a December interview.

Although Comcast, as a company, does not have any deal with RightNetwork, a top executive is playing a role in the network's development.

Ed Snider, chairman of Comcast-Spectacor, which owns sports franchises including the Philadelphia Flyers and Philadelphia 76ers, talks up the network in the company overview."We're creating a welcome place for millions and millions of Americans who've been looking for an entertainment network and media channel that reflects their point-of-view," he says.

3. IMO, this would be a poor mgmt choice right off the bat.
Right now, no matter what my opinion of the Fox Channel,
they almost have the market corneeed for RW and Conservative
Viewers. Their righties are loyal.

We have watched CNN go RW and try to pander to the Right
and have their ratings go into the toilet.

I have never understand these "smart" Broadcast executives.

There are only so many TV viewers.
First, you have a sizable group who either cannot afford Cable
or choose not to have cable.
Then you have those who religiously watch their "Soaps". These
probably just stay with the Broadcast and watch their Network News.

This is now a pretty good sized group on whom you cannot depend.

This brings us to Cable. Fox has a lock on Conservative and RW
Viewers. This is another group off the table.

CNN and MSNBCMSNBC appears to go Right in AM and during day and
Left during evening.

CNN hung a right and it has bought them nothing.

This not the time to add more Right Wing Programming--by
the numbers. I have used no ideology just made observations
over the years.
