If George W Bush had left Barack Obama a $260 billion dollar surplus...
and a balanced budget and with a projected $5 trillion dollar surplus in 10 years, then I could understand why folks would be angry if Obama gave a trillion dollar taxcut to his wealthy friends, started two wars without paying a penny for them, and created a trillion dollar Medicare program on the credit card, and left a deficit for his successor of $1.3 trillion dollars, after he collapsed the entire economy. If Obama had done that, I could understand the anger of the "tea-baggers". As it is, they make absolutely no sense.

3. Not ONE tea bagger protest during the EIGHT YEARS OF BUSH!
Can you say "H Y P O C R I T E S"? That's what right wingers are. You're right. They make NO SENSE, and it's sad how the so-called 'liberal media' is letting them get away with their charade. Every story about tea parties should be prefaced with what you just wrote and how Fox News, Glenn Beck and corporations were behind the entire tea party movement. Notice how Fox News, Glenn Beck or corporate whores weren't protesting anything Bush did?

Where the hell are JOURNALISTS? The people on this site are better journalists than all the major media outlets in the United States combined.

5. Happy to K&R. Why doesn't anybody ask the TeaBaggers that?
Where were you the last 8 years? What is different now? Hmmmmm... could it be...???

No I won't say it but we all know why they're mad and it ain't the deficit or the Constitution.

6. Too many people are missing some obvious facts about the Teabaggers
Edited on Mon Apr-19-10 05:01 PM by Oregone
Take a group of people who went through almost a decade of economic, political and social disaster in an ignorant bliss. Now, wake them up all at once by taking their reality away (a messiah like Bush)...

Well, they are in a shitstorm. Their savings are gone. Their jobs are gone. Their hope is gone. They are now experiencing, in full force, what others were gradually introduced to in almost a decade's time. They have real, sound reasons to be angry. But that anger is rooted in a time when they were blissfully unaware and now they are nothing but confused--lashing out.

And those other people who were awake? Many are now enthralled and pacified despite the severity of the situation at hand

There are a lot of factors at play here. Some is fear. Some is racism. There is a lot of irrationality. But, there is also an explainable anger they have every right to feel. Liberals have felt it for years (and should continue to). Unfortunately, they are in a situation where they cannot source such anger without destroying their entire world view.

Of course they do not make sense. But do not think their deep rooted feelings of angst are unfounded. And no one should feel their own lack of angst is some enlightened trait either. Properly rationalizing the angst is what I consider the virtue, and what is lacking in the "movement" (angry people coming out of deep-thaw)

7. These people are fucking stupid and many are bigots
Who are being led around by corporate jockeys. Of course nothing they do or say is going to make sense.

Nice post and great way of putting things into perspective.

10. Yes, wouldn't Obama have loved to inherit the America that Bush did,
with the economy in good shape and the nation not at wars.

12. And I forgot to say...
if he had taken the national debt of $5.5 trillion dollars and doubled it $11 trillion in just 8 short years, then that would be a reason to be angry, also.

16. Great charts!
If you tuck those away in your journal for me, I can check them out any old time! Lots of info, not painting a pretty picture of what lies on the horizon.

A kick for Sir Tuck, I love it when the Bush bashing is so well seasoned with frank flavor that bites. Nicely done!
