Bill Clinton: It would be better if he appointed somebody younger
Bill Clinton on the idea of Hillary Clinton going to the Supreme Court:

I think she's doing a good job where she is... I think she'd be a great Supreme Court judge. But I think she probably thinks that it'd be better if he appointed somebody younger. Although if you look, I mean, my mother-in-law's 91. I mean, Hillary's going to live to be 110. I joke with her all the time. She might have three husbands after me. You know, she's going to live forever.

What do you think? Do you agree with him? I think he was out of line!

18. Right, the lunatics have been appointing men in the 40-55 range
in order to poison the court for decades. We have to do the same while the lunatic right is still cohesive enough to get elected.

Eventually, they will fall apart and we can get back to appointing good people with a lifetime of solid work behind them. Unfortunately, we need to look at ideology and youth today because the GOP went stark, staring bugfuck crazy during the Nixon years.

3. He said the same about himself...
And I think he's right. We need someone in their 40's to mid-50's to hold that seat for several decades.

6. And it is a damn shame that medical conditions can not be sited
so someone has to retire. I don't think Roberts should be allowed to sit on the bench. What if he had an attack while performing his duties. He had one and fell down a wall. He was lucky he didn't do damage. Or did he do damage. Some of his decisions do seem to lack intelligence.

8. Hmmm... I probably wouldn't take it that far...
Or, maybe I would... good point to ponder though! Maybe we need an alternate... like on a jury, you have alternate jurors in case something happens to someone, or they are disqualified somehow.

21. "Some of his decisions do seem to lack intelligence."
Yeah, but you can say the same for Scalia, Thomas, Alito, and usually Kennedy. And they're supposedly in good health.

25. So people who may suffer from an occasional seizure should be banned from employment?
Very un-progressive of you. There are other sites which you would enjoy more.

7. He's absolutely right. Look at that dipshit Clarence Thomas, he was 42
when he was appointed...he could be making stupid decisions on the court for 50 years.

9. I doubt he's speaking out of class here
I don't think he's saying anything Hillary herself hasn't said or believed. I think he is speaking for her so she doesn't have to here and so she can concentrate on being SoS.

LOL! though. you can't say they don't have a sense of humor about it all.

It's perfectly plausible that she didn't have time to respond to all the SCOTUS speculation and he did her a favor.

17. I think she is doing a fine job as SoS.
Her diplomatic skills surprised me, for some reason I always thought that Hillary could be abrupt in political discussions.

I would rather a scholar, with a liberal bent, for the high court.

20. Bill and I are on the same page here
And I can't always say that about the DLC "messiah" ;)

We need someone on the court who will last as long as Stevens has, longer than Chimpy's two idiots, and will definitely be there when Fat Tony & Clarence the Clown are gone. And who is far more liberal than he or Hillary.

Not that Bill would ever admit to that last part, of course.

lately. Yes I agree with him here. But that does not mean I wouldn't be glad to see her on the court as well.

26. I agree that Hillary is a fantastic Secretary of State.
I think that there are fewer people who could do that job as well as she does than there are good Supreme Court nominees.

27. I think Hillary is the best SOS we have seen in my lifetime. She's such a great
communicator and all that type of talent would be lost if she was a justice. I rather see her as SOS as long as possible. I agree too that we need younger justices of the supreme court.
