3. Wrong
It was defeated in 1865, when the Dixie boys got their ass kicked.

I used to think Lincoln's policy of "malice toward none" was good, and I know it was. I know that you do not want to make martyrs, like we are doing right now in the Middle east. All that said, there is a part of my soul that wishes we shot Jeff Davis and hung Robert E. Lee.

12. No one won with 600,000 boys who died in Civil War
The South bashing is not allowed here. Many of us have Dixie ancestors who didn't even own slaves that fought in that war.

14. The South Bashing
Er, apparently you never heard me rant about how we democrats in Florida helped win the lection, yet people still want to dump on us.

I can realize that people want to venerate the fact that their ancestors were doing what they believed were right, or that they were just trying to make the best of a bad situation. I live near a Confderate cemetery, and I do not begrudge them flying their flag (which is actually the correct one, as opposed to the stars and bars). However, idea of the confederacy is often invoked by the teabaggers, as some glorious past to aspire to, and frankly, that is NOT ACCEPTABLE, because even Robert E. Lee knew that Slavery had become a monster, and no, I do NOT want to see that monster brought back to the modern day.

Go ahead and quote the standard "The war was about more than slavery" stuff, I have heard it all before, and I will say that no amount of good can change the fact that what the confederates unwillingly fought for was the right of the wealthy to abuse people at will, and the willingness of Churches to sancitfy that, a thought of which the most obvious sign was slavery against Blacks, but which also showed itself as the lousy treatment of working white folks. Your ancestors may have been products of their times, but you are not, and therefore, when I see people in my beloved Tampa Tribune and St. Pete Times and other papers speak of the confederacy as some future to aspire to, I will indeed attack them, though I will indeed keep folks like you in mind.

8. Those pics are great
I was looking for another one a DUer made with a Nazi soldier holding a "Morans" sign written in German, but can't find it. Bookmarking this thread for easy reference to those 2.

Thanks!

Somalia

No taxes, no laws, no big gubment.

We should load them all on a massive cruise ship & let Somali pirates hijack it.
