Downfall Producers Want Hitler Parody Off Web
Source: Sky News

The makers of German film Der Untergang (Downfall) are campaigning for a parody of their film to be taken off YouTube. The film sequence originally portrays Adolf Hitler ranting against betrayal in his besieged bunker but the clip has been replayed on online with the dictator's subtitles adapted to ridicule modern day dilemas of a less serious nature.

One spoof involves the Nazi leader looking at the football results and learning that Sheffield United have been relegated.
"Now we will have to live with this injustice!" the Führer fumes.

Other versions have him ranting at the news that Oasis have split up, on being banned from playing his Xbox Live and finding out that Diversity had beaten Susan Boyle in Britain's Got Talent.

There is reportedly even one spoof in which Hitler appears to rant about the number of Downfall spoofs on the web.
The film's producers are not laughing, though.

Who's gonna bet that there will be a spoof about the makers' decision to take the parody off the web!

After viewing the spoofs and wanted to see their film, which I did myself.
Free promotion and now they want to shut it down?

10. I noticed the other day that some had been deleted
Isn't parody protected under copyright law?

11. In a word, yes.
Neither YouTube nor the film's producers care about copyright law when it acts to the benefit of the public.

Another thing: If they don't care about it when it is of benefit to the public, why should the public care about fereely uploading and downloading entire films and movies? Because "it's the law"?
