Republicans Dominate Watchdog’s List of ‘ WORST GOVERNORS ’
A report from political watchdog Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) lists what it calls the 11 "worst governors" in America, and among them are California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, New York Governor David Paterson and Texas Governor Rick Perry.

Of the 11 governors, all but two are Republicans. Paterson and New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson were the two Democrats named.

"We considered whether governors had violated ethics, campaign finance and personal financial disclosure rules as well as whether they had complied with state transparency laws," CREW stated.

Among the others named is South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford, who became a household name last year when he disappeared for a week and returned to announce he had been having an affair with an Argentinian woman. CREW accuses Sanford of "abus his office for his personal benefit and the benefit of his friends, violat campaign finance laws by failing to report in-kind contributions and improperly converting campaign funds for personal use, subordinat his responsibilities to his pursuit of an extramarital affair," and "endanger his state’s economy by threatening to refuse stimulus funds."

Also on the list is Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal, who last year was tipped as a potential future leader of the GOP, but whose star sank after his lackluster televised response to President Obama's address to a joint session of Congress.

1. Poor Richardson. His first two years were awful,

right out of the DLC playbook. Then he managed to do a few of the things he promised to do, in addition to pushing for paper ballots after the state was stolen in the 2004 election, and he seemed to be one of the better governors.

Unfortunately, he's started hiring too many incompetent family members to high paying posts in the past three years. He's going to go down in the books as just another corrupt small state governor. It's sad to see the fall from grace.

He's been a mixed bag here. He doesn't belong on the list with that nutbar in Virginia, IMO, or that gotch eyed Jabba clone in New Jersey. He's just been engaging in entirely too much nepotism for the good of the state.

On edit: the pay-to-play charge has been dismissed, the timing just didn't work for it to be valid. It was a political charge set to keep him out of the cabinet and it worked. Shame on CREW for not following up on that part.

He's no choirboy. He's no Rick Perry, either.
