Poll question: Senator Crist - good or bad
Edited on Wed Apr-21-10 01:12 PM by Doctor_J
I believe there is a distinct possibility he could win. What do you think of this?

1. I am a bit mixed
It would be wonderful to have a dem win the seat. However given that he doesn't seem to be generating any excitement (maybe he is, I haven't seen it) and given the general nuttiness of Florida, I have real doubts if he could win against Rubio. And my main hope is Rubio goes down.

2. Other: Who cares? Even if he runs as an indie, he'll still lose.
This recent poll that has him leading a three-way race by two points is ho-hum. The Dem., Kendrick Meek, isn't as well known as Crist or Rubio, and as the race heats up and Meek becomes more well known upstate, he'll only steal votes from Crist; after all, few Rubio voters will be persuaded to vote for Meek. And that means that Crist leading by only two points over Rubio and eight points over Meek at this point in the race will result in a Rubio win, with Meek stealing a handful of points from Crist by November.

6. I wonder what a race between just Rubio and Meek polls like?
If there's any chance Rubio would win that race, I'd rather Crist stay in it however he can, because from what I hear, he has enough widespread popularity to win the general, just not his R primary.

Basically, I'd prefer the Dem, but I'll take the lesser of two evils if that's not possible.

7. Meek recently polled just outside the moe behind Rubio in a two candidate race.
Meek stacks up far better against Rubio than he does against Crist. In a three candidate race, Crist leads, Rubio second (but within moe), and Meek third - just outside moe but within striking distance. Considering Meek isn't well known outside of South Florida, and hasn't spent much on ads so far (saving $ for the GE), he's doing fairly well. I think that ultimately Meek would do best in a three-way race. Rubio and Crist will continue to attack each other, there's not much to attack Meek on.

9. Both Rubio and Crist are under investigation for stealing
GOP money, I'd say they are both winners.

11. Crist has never impressed me. And he's a terribly ambitious
guy. May he and Rubio bash each other senseless.

And may Meek inherit the plurality.
