Wes Clark On Blanche Lincoln 'I Think She'll Succeed'
Wes Clark On Blanche Lincoln 'I Think She'll Succeed'
Christina Bellantoni | April 22, 2010, 6:16PM

Gen. Wesley Clark said Sen. Blanche Lincoln will do just fine in her primary against progressive favorite Bill Halter.

Today at the White House during a reception for Earth Day, I did a brief interview with Clark (D-AR). I was the pool reporter for the event, and filed a brief write-up for the rest of the press.

I asked Clark what he makes of the May 18 Democratic primary between Lincoln and Halter. Clark told me he's supporting Lincoln, though hasn't had time to campaign for her yet because of frequent travel out of the state.

"I think she'll succeed," Clark said. "I admire Blanche. She's a fine person."

I would have thought he'd back Halter.

13. Halter must not have a chance. Certainly not of being elected in the general election. nt

5. My opinion on Wesley Clark was already pretty low
this just confirms what I already knew about him.

9. That's completely wrong.
I do disagree with him on Lincoln, but calling him DLC is not backed up by the facts.

8. Wes Clark is wrong
like he was wrong in '04.

Bill Halter will take care of Lincoln easily - Arkansas are one ornery people, and they don't like it when one sells out the other.

10. Halter is a light weight in Arkansas politics and is coming off
as sleazy in his campaign tatics. Lincoln's problem will be what the repukes through at her.

16. No, but I am just stating the facts. He doesn't have a prayer.
I'm not happy about it but if you would like to bet the sky is the limit for me. I've been around here too long. Arkansas politics are very predictable to an Arkansan.

11. Is this same Blanche Lincoln that cancelled her fund-raising dinner this week with Goldman Sachs?
Yeah, Blanche is brilliant, what she'll succeed in doing is turning this seat over a Repuke.

15. I am very, very disappointed in Wes Clark for supporting her.
I was a big fan of his at one time -- now, not so much. Sorry to see he's getting behind a tool like Blanche instead of supporting the progressive candidate.

18. Here's the thing abut Wes Clark. He is the perpetual team player.
Lincoln is on the team, Halter is not (yet).

Clark was there for Obama after he won the primary (even though that support didn't end well for Clark).

He was there for Clinton when she was still in the primaries.

He was there for Kerry after he lost to him in the primaries.

Wes Clark has always been a team player.

I wish he'd allow his own internal compass to guide him more. His inclination is to be a "far left" shit stirrer, but his Boy Scout outlook causes him to do shit like this.

Oh well, I still love the guy.
