Fox Tea Party promoter probes Helen Thomas on liberal bias. Liberal isn't a dirty word and Helen Thomas went on the Fox Business Network to prove it.

Host Stuart Varney tried to trap Thomas by asking if she was "far left," a term that Bill O'Reilly often uses to imply some liberals are nuts. Without pause, Thomas proudly admitted that she was "as far as you can go" to the left.

VARNEY: Some of the critics say that you are a liberal and you let your politics show, very very clearly, and that maybe you should not let your politics show when you’re a White House correspondent.

THOMAS: Why not? I’m a columnist; I’m an opinion columnist, and I have the right to show my opinion, and I am a liberal, indeed.

VARNEY: Would you say you’re on the far left?

Innit strange that when someone points out the obvious bias at Fox, we're lectured on how all their commentators are really opinion folks, and they're supposed to have a point of view? Of course, the bleed over from commentator to newsreader gets pretty blurred, and there's really no distinguishing between Fox "news" personalities and their stable of "opinion" personalities. But now Mr. Varney seems all confused on how an opinion columnist injects an opinion into her columns. You can almost hear the "harrumph" in the transcript.

I have a feeling she's not a communist, or even a big time socialist. Of course, wanting progressive taxation, wanting to help the poor, and wanting regulation of business makes a person 'far-left' in America today, but it's hardly as far left as one can go.

but there's really nothing so terrible about "socialism". It's not full-fledged communism, but they would have you think that. In fact, socialism has co-existed well with and helped put checks and balances on capitalism, I wonder how many of them have even been to Europe or a socialist country.
