The picture....
breaks my heart!
The Picture.
"This was a perfectly healthy twenty two-year-old young man who in the service of his country got half of his head blown off. I think that’s important, I think that’s newsworthy."

2. Why?
Why did this young man have to go through this? Why, did so many give their lives? Why, so many horribly disfigured and maimed?

There isn't a sufficient punishment for monsters like, bush, Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz who lied to get us into this war.

My heart and love to you soldier and your family.

4. I cannot look at this picture ...
... without seeing myself holding my own son.

I doubt that most parents can look at this photo without imagining what it would be like to embrace their own son/daughter in the same circumstances we see here.

And yet there are those - somewhere, out there - who can take in this photo, dry-eyed and determined - and say this is how it had to be, was meant to be - that this outcome will somehow accomplish something of value down the road.

I weep with those who cry with me, and with this mother.

I mourn for those too soulless to feel anything at all.

I despise those who will place a "Support the Troops" bumpertsicker on their car, and be convinced that they have earned the right to dismiss the consequences we see captured in this photograph - a modern-day "Pieta" that should never have existed, in art nor in truth.
